Aggie Schedule

They seem to have a pretty easy schedule this year according the the Houston Chronicle this morning. The paper shows them playing Northwestern State on Nov 1.

That is a typo, right?

Every other source I looked at has them playing Colorado that day.

Either way, they avoid Kansas and Missouri and get their only tough OOC (Miami) at home.

It's never an easy Big XII schedule for a team to have to play Texas, OU and Tech. Plus, their marquee OOC game is better than ours (Miami v. Arkansas)

Over on Texags, some of the non-koolaid drinkers see New Mexico as a possible trap game away from home with the team still being green in their new systems.

A&M's schedule is tougher than it looks at first glance.

Aggies better not sleep on Arkansas State. That's a trap game for sure.

New Mexico has a very good team this year and most publications have them ranked higher than the Aggies. Rocky Long's blitz-happy defense is a bad match up for A&M's inexperienced OLine. I expect A&M to lose this one.

Miami is a tough one to judge. Because it's at A&M, I think the Aggies will win, but then again it could turn out just like last year.

Iowa St and Oklahoma St are anybody's guess, but it doesn't help that they're on the road.

They have no chance against OU and Tech and they're a waste to be played at Kyle Field.

Here is Phil Steele's rankings of schedule difficulties for B12 schools:

7. Baylor
8. CU
22. Nebraska
23. Texas
25. Kansas
30. OU
39. TT
42. Okie State
47. Iowa State
52. Kansas State
53. TAMU
64. Missouri

So, the Ags have the 2nd easiest schedule in the B12, and the easiest in the B12 south.

I read last week that A&M put someone on their '09 schedule who only moved up to Div. 1-AA this year.

I don't remember who it was (could be Northwestern State?), and they don't have future schedules on their site.

Aug 30 Arkansas State-win close
Sep 6 @ New Mexico-Win close
Sep 20 Miami (Fla.)-huge Loss
Sep 27 Army-win big for revenge
Oct 4 @ Oklahoma State-Loss
Oct 11 Kansas State-Loss
Oct 18 Texas Tech-Loss
Oct 25 @ Iowa State-Win late
Nov 1 Colorado-Loss
Nov 8 Oklahoma-Loss huge
Nov 15 @ Baylor-Win
Nov 27 @ Texas-Loss

I agree that the Lobo game could be a trap game for them. The altitude and NM being better than they have in the past could spell trouble. Any pause or stutter step of a start by Sherman's Hermits could equal a loss. If that happens, the wheels come off.

I thnk aggy loses to Miami as well.

Their schedule isn't real tough in comparison to others, but it will be tough for them, and that's what matters right?

Aug 30 Arkansas State - W, 2 point win
Sep 6 @ New Mexico - L, Lobos win with a late FG
Sep 20 Miami (Fla.) - W, Cane's squander late lead and lose by 4
Sep 27 Army - W
Oct 4 @ Oklahoma State - L, Pokes seek revenge for close loss last year
Oct 11 Kansas State - W, Sherman's Hermits put on fanatical effort to win at home by a TD
Oct 18 Texas Tech - L, another loss to the hated Raiders
Oct 25 @ Iowa State - W, Chizik nearly pulls an upset but aggy gets a TO for a late FG
Nov 1 Colorado - L, aggy has record turnovers
Nov 8 Oklahoma - L, aggy plays inspired but loses by a TD
Nov 15 @ Baylor - W
Nov 27 @ Texas - L, Horns exact nasty revenge on aggy and win by 24 points

Me thinks aggy will go 6-6 with this "easy" schedule.

When new coaches come in you hear things like intensity, excitement, attitiude, new persepective etc......
I haven't heard anything like that out of the Aggie camp. I don't really look for news about them, but I am hearing more about Briles than Sherman and I don't look for Baylor news either!!!!!

Not sure what to think!!!!!!

Ropin,

That's correct.

But that's just ooc.

When factoring all 12 games, Tech's schedule moves up the list.

Iowa State and KSU should be higher on the list....up there with Baylor. I'll never understand when evaluating the difficulty of a given schedule that the team actually playing said schedule isn't part of the equation.

I have been a Texas student/graduate etc since McWilliams, it was always upbeat, even with Mackovic, we were like new style, giddyup!!! We knew our offensive woes were over!!! We haven't had a bad offensive team, since 1992/1991?
Even 1997 had some punch to it with Ricky!!!

Nothing out of Aggie camp, I guess they are just lying low, setting expectations low and hope to over-achieve?

Maybe there are some real problems, Sherman never did excite me, even at Green Bay. Who knows......

As for the Aggies, I too think they are gonna have their hands full. A new coach AND a new O- line is a bad combo.

New Mexico could very well pull the upset.

I predict there will be more nut squeezing caught on tape in the Miami game. TV crews should make a point to show that at every aggy game.

The whole country needs to know how special their traditions are.

I am only going to say this one time...for the millioneth time...

F AGGY

I realize everyone's expectations regarding aggy have been reset to an appropriate level this year, with the new staff and scheme. However, until we actually deliver the appropriate payback on T, they aren't even worth worrying about right now.

Yes, I'm still irritated over 2006 and 2007.
