after game 1, here's the deal

that sucked bad, but i had a bad feeling. Too much overconfidence in the air.

1. Cliff Lee will not lose again. Game 5 in arlington he will be on.
2. We need to get to game 5 tied at 2. If CJ can come up big tonight that would be huge. Of course Cain pitches very well in SF but we should score some runs.
3. the good news is the bad news...SF is playing way above their heads on offense. They simply are not a very good offensiive team but they are hot. Have to hope they cool off. In meantime, defense is huge. The error by young and the HBP led to the first runs for SF. Can't give them anything like that. If we can hold that down, i'm confident they won't hit as good as last night for the rest of the seres.

Key in my opinion is to take 2 of next 3. If CJ goes down tonight it puts a lot of pressure on Colby and lets Sanchez relax in game 3. When Sanchez is on he is filthy.

SF has got to come back down to earth. Remember, we were in the same position after game 1 last series against a better team. This Ranger team can fight

Agreed. I'm disappointed but not dejected. Eliminate the mistakes and we can win this thing.

I agree, but to assume SF has to 'come down to Earth' is foolish, IMO. This is a good team w/proven clutch players throughout this postseason. It's not always the best team that wins, but the one who gets hot at the right time.

We just need to eliminate the small mistakes and continue to grind away. If C.J. can bounce back from his dismal 2nd ALCS start, we're still in a good position to win this thing. If not, we may be looking at SF celebrating at the BiA. That would suck.

OUE,

i'm not assuming they come back down to earth, just hoping. This team is not statistically a good offensive team. I've watched them quite a bit, they are hot, playing above their heads. In the braves and phillies series they got most of their runs from two sources, errors (or unforced errors if you will, i.e. walks, HBP etc.) and Cody Ross.

I do think it is safe to assume they will not hit that well the rest of the series. If they do, then the rangers will not have much chance IMO. Sometimes you run into a buzzsaw. that's the way baseball go.

I came in to this deal hoping for a split in SF. Lee was due for an off-night (though I did not think it would be Game 1), but the goal of a split is still attainable. I'm not going to start worrying about this thing unless and until the Rangers come back to Arlington down 2-0.

^Agree. The objective for the road team in a seven game 2-3-2 series is to come away with a split. The Rangers can do that tonight - it will take a great performance by C.J. against Cain. Come back to Arlington at 1-1 and it's the chance to win the Seriies.

Like I said before Texas is playing with house money so one cannot get too down.

I questioned all along sending Lee out in Game 1. To many things can go wrong on the road in big games. A wiser choice might have been to pitch Lee in game 2.

Not to worry however, still 6 games to win 4.
