AF Turned Down the Big 12

It surprised me that the Big12 had offered membership mainly due to the small impact they would have on the league's revenue. Maybe they were part of a BYU package deal to add 2 teams from the west. Along with TCU, the Big 12 would be back to 12.

The Big East would seem a better fit for AF....if it remains viable long term. I think it would be great for Navy and Army to join AF in the same conference. Not likely but it would be great to see a service academy team get into a BCS bowl spot at some point.

From a $$$ standpoint, I admire their priorities but why not join the Big 12 for 6 years, upgrade your facilities, then move on if deemed approriate. But maybe they can upgrade their facilities adequately with the Big East $$$.

I enjoyed that article.. thanks for posting

A couple of thoughts. First, to say he "turned down" the B12 is probably misleading. I doubt that he was given an invitation, more likely he got a phone call asking if he was interested. He said it wasn't a good fit. Why leads to my second comment.
