Been using Google's pop-up blocking tool bar for months with no problems. Now, pop ups from this site and a few other are getting through, and can't tell why.
any advice on another pop-up killer would be appreciated!!!
Use a new browser. Try Mozilla firefox 0.8 or Netscape 7.0 or higher. They come with free pop=up blockers. My guess is that either a) you have spyware that is overriding your toolbar or b) the advertisers are getting smarter than google.
Either way, I haven't had a single pop-up ad with mozilla
I started an earlier thread on this a few day ago. This is happening to at least several people here who use Google Toolbar. I'm sure Google is just behind the curve for the moment.
i use panicware pop-up stopper pro 1.8... it's probably an older version, but i like it a lot. the only thing it won't do is stop the ones that are embedded onto the page and 'float' across inside the window.
1. Apologies if it appeared like I was picking out this site in my initial note - it was meant as a general comment, using hornfans.com as an example.
2. I choose to click banners as opposed to sponsoring the site, primarily because last year one of your great moderators made it pretty clear that since my opinion wasn't in lock step with his, my *** was welcome to go elsewhere (or close to that effect - I'd have to pull the old PM to make sure). As such, I like the occasional visit and click like crazy, but as long as he's a mod, my $$ isn't welcome.
3. If you'd like to make a personal comment about my "using your bandwidth" in the future, I'd love it in a PM or email as opposed to interjecting it into a legitimate thread, if that's OK.
To everyone else who legitimately answer my question, thanks. I have dumped the Google toolbar and am back to pop-up killer again.
Our sales reps have getting swarmed with pop ups and adware lately. The best thing I have found is to use CWShredder followed by Hijack This. You can get them here.... www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
After that, I run Bazooka which shows you if anything is embedded in your registry. Hope it helps.
