Advice on EPL tickets?

My wife and I are making a trip to London next month. I'm hopeful that a connection will come through with tickets to a mtach (Chelsea v. Man City). If that fails, any recommendations for me buying tickets? I've checked out the online scalpers, and prices are pretty high. Anyone have experience with buying at a venue in London/Manchester/Brimingham?

I have walked up and bought tickets at Chelsea on game day before, but a game like Man city will probably be sold out. An alternative is to see a London area game at Fulham or West Ham, where sell outs are less probable.

Forgot to say you can contact all of those clubs by email and see if they have tickets available.
