ACL Studio Backdrop Question?

have seen the city background for years on TV during the show. would like to know if it's a real shot of the city or a picture?

It's a mockup of the Austin skyline behind the stage at the studio. They update it (cranes when constuction is going on, add major buildings) when necessary.

I thought it looked pretty crappy in person, it's amazing how different it appears on TV.

The shot they used to have (Which I saw in a statesman article about the show many years ago -- I've never watched the show) was a photograph of downtown taken from the Main Building at St Ed's. In the show-shot, you could see the capitol, but constuction has long since obscured that view in real life.


From the look of the website, it's not a picture at all anymore. Just a mock-up of the city, and I can't tell where the view is supposed to be from, exactly.

Is there a way to find out when upcoming tapings will be happening? That's one thing I've yet to do since moving here.
