Just watching the red carpet "pregame" . . . and John Travolta looks like a chia pet.

I want to see No Country for Old Men take home some hardware tonight.

Jon Stewart = WAY too political

The Oscars are such a waste of time. Who cares about any of these obscure categories? And when did Jerry Seinfeld forget how to be funny?

I just paused it. Will watch everything I want to see in about 20 minutes. I'd like to see NCFOM and TWBB honored, but not enough to slog through the rest of this disconnected, self-important, British-accented circle jerk.

I'm amazed!!! No Country was HANDS DOWN the best movie and they figured that out! I really thought it would be another brain dead pick. That's the first time I've ever put my fist up after an Oscar pick. Such a great movie.

I'm guessing that all the voters that picked "Shakespeare in Love" over "Saving Private Ryan" have passed on. It's such a shame when people die young.

Yes, I was really expecting one of those "Shakespeare In Love" type deals this go around. That set the credibility of the award back years.

I'm okay with NCFOM winning Best Picture over There Will Be Blood, but I have to say that I was rooting for Paul Thomas Anderson's film to win. He'll probably get another nomination at some point, but damn, how often does a director get an opportunity to get an actor the caliber of Daniel Day-Lewis to lead your cast? I know many people loathe PTA, but I love Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, and Magnolia. I'm also a diehard Cohen bros fan, so I'm happy to see them get more hardware. I just think that this may have been PTA's best shot for a Best Picture Oscar for a long time.

This just hit me tonight - DDL is a 2-time best actor winner and 4 time nominee. Where does he rank in the actors of this generation?

Napoleon, I'd like to agree with you, but then we'd just both be wrong. I'd hit the "stop" button on Shakespeare way before I'd hit "fast fwd" on SPL. The depth, weight, and scope of SPL was just plain above that of Shakespeare In Love. Ain't opinions fun?

I find that I cringe at the acting, dialogue, and/or shmaltz during over half of SPR. I never cringe during SIL.

Agree to disagree.

Julie Christie wasn't robbed. They got it right. That is such a rare thing in the last two decades for the Academy.

Kate Blanchette was robbed, and the host didn't do too much for me, and they cut off the acceptance speeches before any of them could say much at all, but other than that they got most of the awards right, and No Country really deserved its top awards.

funniest joke was when Stewart said that "every time you see a black or female president, there's always an asteroid about to hit the Statue of Liberty."

That was ******* hysterical. They cut to Wesley Snipes and Spike Lee, and they were laughing their asses off.
