AC Vents Not Blowing Cold Air

My home AC vents are not blowing cold air...the air they give out is about 82 degrees. Is this a freon problem? Could I be able to fix it or do I need to call a professional (something Id rather not do). Any help is apprecieated. Thanks.

First thing to check is the unit outside. Is it running? If it is, you should call a pro. If it isn't, try to diagnose it. Check fuses, etc.

Mine went out last year. Sucked ***. I'd call someone immediately, like Strand Bros. They helped me out pretty fast, and didn't jerk me around like these other guys who came out first and told me I needed a new compressor (my house was 2 years old at the time). You shouldn't "run out" of freon...unless there's a leak, which adding more freon will only temporarily fix anyway. Good luck.

One thing to check. I have a programmable thermostat that has batteries in it. Whenever the batteries get old it does not signal the outside unit to kick on. If you have this kind of thermostat, you may want to change the batteries.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions.

Well the problem was that the AC unit outside wasnt working. So I opened the fuse box, turned off the AC fuse, then turned it back on...... and now the AC unit works. How....I dont know, but Im glad its working

. I just hope this isnt just a temperory fix.

Once again, thanks for the replies.

Listen carefully. You are not done yet. With that out of the way you should walk to the fridge. Open the door. Look for a beer. No, not the cheap stuff, the good one hidden behind the mustard on the bottom shelf. Possibly in the vegetable crisper. Open that beer. Drink deeply. You just saved a hundred bucks, you deserve it.
