AC 1998 Honda Accord

The AC on my Honda Accord has never been worked on and it seems like it is not cooling like it should. Will freon be available next year? Is it the type of thing I should have it worked on now instead of waiting as it may cause more problems. Any other advise is welcome.

accuratehorn will be along soon enough for an expert opinion.

For an amateur one, it's entirely possible that freon is not the issue with your ac.

You can open the hood and start the engine. Probably you can simply add freon to the engine, IF it's low on freon. IF it's blowing cool but not cold that may very well be the case.

Email Accurate horn and he will check it out and not rip you off. Probably a very small leak somewhere and you need freon.

Since 1995 or 1996, all cars switched to R134A, the "newer" type of refrigerant, so it will be available. Freon is in earlier models, and may or may not be available, but most shops do not use it anymore-they convert the cars to R134A.
You can add some refrigerant to a system, but this is not the right way to do it, because it is a guess. It may or may not be low on refrigerant, although that is a common problem.
Due to environmental concerns, the capacity of systems have been reduced, and just a few ounces may cause a performance problem, including a few ounces too much. So if you just add some, you may be fixing the problem, but you may be overfilling the system which can cause a component to go out on you. The right way is to remove the old refrigerant, replace the two schraeder valves, add leak-detecting dye to the system, then recharge with the exact amount called for by the manufacturer (there should be a sticker under the hood with this figure on it).
Your heater valve could be stuck partly open or a couple of other things causing the symptoms you describe other than being low on refrigerant, but that is a common thing to happen.

13724 N IH 35 78728 It's close to the Howard Lane exit on 35 but it's on the west side access road so you have to come from Wells Branch Prkwy and head south to Howard Lane.

I've also heard that he has one aggy employee that handles Allis-Challmers, International Harvester, and Massey-Furguson.

When there are none of those to work on, he sweeps up and cleans the bathrooms.

Toyotas, Lexus, Honda and Acura are all worked on there. For other cars it depends on what the vehicle is and what needs to be done considering what the workload is at that time.
