? about inground pet waste removal systems

I have seen the systems in a couple of catalogs and wonder if anybody has one. Basically, after testing your soil for water capacity, etc... you put it in. That determines how much water you add and how much of the enzymes that break it down harmlessly into soil w/ no smell. I love the idea and it is something I would prefer over sandwich bags and trips to the trash. The trash can gets ripe in the summer and moved further from the house.

So if you have one or know someone w/ one, let me know. Thanks.

Anyone have any feedback on one of these?? After reading about these systems, I am curious as well. If they work as advertised, this would be great...

I've seen these advertised, but I just dig a hole and bury the droppings after saving them up in a big plastic bucket-unless I need them for gifts for noisy neighbors or ones with upside down longhorn stickers on their cars.

I am going to ask my vet and some folks on a pet community chat room. Somebody on there at any given time has experienced just about anything you can imagine w/ their pet. Not live but on the BBS. So I'll report back when I get an answer. But the way it sounds, hallelujah. Drop, water, enzymes...done.

I used one in a condo where my **** yard was a 10' by 10' area. I was not so impressed. The soil drained way too fast and it took quite a bit of enzyme.

I never really tried to trouble shoot it and I certainly didn't give it a second chance, so it may work. I just thought it was more trouble than what it was worth.

tropheus, did you run a soil sample check before installing? Just curious. I was reading this was necessary to determine the possible best location for a yard based on drainage and water retention of the soil and also for the proper water to enzyme ratio. Just curious if this was done before. That could be a huge factor in your story and as to whether or not I get one.

I did not. Like I said, I didn't give it a second shot either. To me you have to dispose of the waste in one form or another. From my perspective, the garbage can works just as easily as the enzyme deal.

I would expect if done right, it can work. The logic is there, it's just a mini-septic tank.
