Abbott's latest debacle

Please explain to me why Greg Abbott has decided to join the feds lawsuit to stop the merger of American and USeless Air.

Did Abbott do anything other than provide lip service for the carpetbagging of Continental by little Jeffery Smizek and Un-tied? That "merger" has cost Houston countless jobs, emptied office leases, allowed Smizek to take the newer CAL fleet, to Chicago and force Texans to fly on always late, frequently cancelled old piece of **** United airplanes. Layoffs are rampant, and CAL flight attendants with 9-12 years are suddenly back of reserve.

Now Abbott wants to oppose a group of Fort Worth investors, who have bailed out American Worst and USeless from bankruptcy, and keep them from bringing more jobs to the Metroplex. The new American will be headquartered in the Metroplex not Chicago like United.

Someone please explain to me what if anything Abbott is thinking. Is he lobbying for a federal appointment when he gets slaughtered in his next campaign?

Wendy could energize the wacko left wingers. Believe it or not there are people who care about women's health care (and not just as a euphumism to make it harder to get contraception and abortions), uninsured and hungry children. She's more attractive and charismatic than Abbot. Even in a loss she could energize the base and get out more vote in swing districts. A positive showing would get Democrats and moderates to proudly show their face. Texas is a consrevative state, but there is a lot of moderate revulsion at numbskull governance and legislation that is completely sold out to special interests and extremist wackos.

If the Hispanic vote ever got going and the influx of new people, reported to be mostly Democrat, ever actually voted, things could get interesting.

The Antitrust section is somewhat isolated from the more political parts of the AG's office. This was not politically motivated and Abbott himself had no influence.

Cyclist.

That's the problem with Abbott. He has "no influence" anywhere that matters, particularly in the courtroom,

Love the "anti-trust" crowd - it applies to everything EXCEPT the public good and the federal government.

Abbott will force school districts to reveal the names of applicants to local newspapers, but can't control what lawsuits are filed in his own department? He's even more worthless than I thought.

Before he is unemployed, it would be nice to see him do ONE THING to make any of us believe that he has earned TODAY'S pay.

So the Ds only hope for a majority is to flood the State with non-citizens then legalize them.

Awesome plan 100p

Gecko,

Sorry about the bad news, but they don't have to be "legal" to vote.

Good news is that the "legals" don't vote. Ask Ben Reyes, who had a Congressional district gerrymandered to be 94% Hispanic. It was custom made for Reyes, but wound up being a runoff between the black Republican handpicked by Georg HW Bush and Gene Green. Quote from Reyes, "We don't vote".
