AAS article on recruiting

There is an article in todays Austin American Statesman with a positive spin on UT recruiting. It's on premium content and I've included the link at the bottom. The whole article is worth reading but here are a few of the highlights.

Star recruit: quarterback Jerrod Heard = real difference maker.

Biggest potential star could be defensive end Derrick Roberson who has only recently started focusing on football.

Because of lack of 5-stars, and only six 4-stars out of 21 pledges, it will be up to the coaches to prove they can develop talent.

Potential steal/gem in the class could be wide receiver Garrett Gray 6-5 with elite speed.

Most intriguing of the 3-star recruits may be defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao, 6-foot, 301-pounder and potentially very good.

There are 6 wide receiver prospects because UT is looking for perimeter playmakers for the new up-tempo attack. Armanti Foreman and Lorenzo Joe could see early playing time.

More defensive playmakers are still needed like Solomon Thomas, Jamal Adams, Edwin Freeman and John Bonney.

Next recruit to commit could possibly be Jason Hall (current Nebraska pledge).

Larry Porter has more than pulled his weight in his first few months as a recruiter.

doesn't matter if you have 4 or 5 star talent, the coaches still need to develop those kids for them to be productive.
