AA is on thin ice with me. i spent 10 hrs in DFW trying to get to phoenix on tuesday. they canceled my flight and 2 others to phoenix. what a mess. i might just switch over to southwest even with the stopovers it might be more pleasant.
Interesting. I have the same card, but I'm still in my first 12 months so I don't have to pay the fee for a while. Maybe I'll try and bluff about canceling when it comes up and AA pisses me off.
why don't you guys get the SPG card? you can transfer the miles to AA 1:1 (actually you get a bonus of 5k if you transfer 20k at once - so 25k AA miles for 20k SPG points) as well as a bunch of other airline programs and of course the Starwood properties.
And I'm wondering how limited the alternatives will be for availability of AAdvantage flights. Last time I cashed some miles (took my wife with me to a Government conference in San Diego), the only flight I could use miles for was the 0700 takeoff. There were times that were a lot more convenient, and I would have used them if I had been alone. Let's see what happens...
Flew on a 5 hour 45 minute flight with AA earlier this month and was served nothing other than drinks... no peanuts, no pretzels... They did offer to sell a cookie for $3! Almost 6 hours and 3 time zones... Southwest does better on their flights from Austin to Dallas! That was my last AA flight for a long while...
Recently on Continental they served the following between Houston and LGA...
First (where I was)
: Grilled chicken salad (it wasn't horrible), bowl of fruit, hot soup and cheese cake.
Coach (where my traveling buddy was at)
: Chicken Caesar wrap, small salad and a bag of M&Ms. The drink cart made 3 passes during the flight.
Book a full Y fare and you get an automatic upgrade (if you're Elite). Some H fares on some routes get upgraded as well.
At IAH they're going to start experimenting with reading your board pass bar code off your BlackBerry. Note sure how this is going to work, but I'm looking forward to it.
Continental always boards first class first and then goes straight to the Elites. They'll toss your *** out of line if you try to board too early.
Almost every 737-700 and above has a movie if the flight is over 2hrs. Flight attendant coming home from LGA on a Friday afternoon a couple weeks ago announced instead of showing "Mad Money" as the movie she thought everybody would rather watch a copy of "Talladega Nights" that the captained purloined from a prior months inventory.
I heart Continental. Seriously, they have no equal domestically. I thank God they're Houston's hometown airline.
