A superior oven mitt

I have some silicon oven mitts that work pretty good for high temps, but I tend to use welding gloves over them. I recently received as a gift a pair of those woven Nomax/Kevlar oven gloves. They work great and allow for excellent dexterity, but are not as easy to get on and off as the welding gloves. Basically I tend to use welding gloves, but the others will certainly do the job.

I don't use any of those for lower temp pit wrangling. I use nitrile chemical gloves for that, but I wouldn't use those for high temps.

Do you wear one of these too?

I second the welding gloves.

We got some "grilling gloves" from Barbeques Galore that are basically welding gloves. They work great.

I don't think Mac is looking for something to reach into a smoker, just the oven.

I have a couple like these and they work excellent. You can use them on the table as well if you want to put a hot pan/caserole out for serving.

I am not a big fan of the rubbery thick silicone pot holders or oven gloves. They are too awkward and clumsy feeling in my opinion.

I like the old fasioned silicone coated quilted fabric gloves (think ironing board silicone covering thin) and I am more likely to just use a bar mop towel.

The gf got me an 'Ove Glove' and I like it. You can get it at pretty much any retail store; BBB, LnT, etc.

It'll still get hot if I hold on to something too long but it probably takes twice as long as the old standard mitts or a folded towel.
