So I dropped my daughter off at the UT Basketball camp today. This is her 5th time participating in the overnight camp. During these past camps, the staff was very bored and diseinterested during registration and it always seemed as though the camp was an afterthought to Coach G. In fact, Shannon saw Coach G exactly one time combined over all her previous visits.

Today was completely different. "Special Assistant" Stephens

greeted each camper through the door, and before the girls got their room key, they each individually had to go and meet with Coach Aston, talk for a minute and get a photo taken with her. Additionally, Coach Aston will be running some of the drills at camp.

Look, I know this means exactly zero in relation to how the team will do next year, but for one longhorn dad and daughter, it was really cool. To be fair, this camp had become all about Shannon meeting up with some of her friends from around the state and having fun, but maybe this is the year she learns something valuable? If nothing else, this has to help Coach Aston's image when she is recruiting.

i think it says alot about how KA is trying to reach out to the fans and women's basketball community. That is great to hear, I bet it was really special for the campers too!
