A question about driving

I don't stop driving, I just make sure I am enough out of the way where they can safely get by. I don't know if that is the law, though. I think it is, and it makes sense because it would be more unsafe for everyone to slam on their brakes and come to a full stop on a divided highway than just slow down and let the emergency vehicle pass through safely.

You pull over and stop. If you are in the left lane, it is acceptable to move to the left. If you are in area with no shoulder, and the vehicle is in your lane, then move in the direction everyone else appears to be moving. In general, get out of the way and come to stop as it is safe to do so, and try to be predictable because the driver of the emergency vehicle is trying choose the fastest safe path to their destination.
