A Positive? Sam

Can’t believe I’m saying this after all of my criticism through Tulsa but Sam is performing at a high level. His judgment is light years beyond where it was just six games ago. The game seems to have slowed down for him. His passing is improving every week and the interception record is nothing short of impressive. And, his running skill is lethal.

If Ehlinger continues to progress — which I expect, he we soon be one of the best at the position in the country.

That pass, over the shoulder of our receiver, into the endzone, like a soft loaf of bread into the receiver's hands for a TD was a thing of beauty.

He CAN throw deep if given the time.

Sure, he'll make mistakes; everyone does, and looks like he's learning smart things to do to avoid getting into situations where panic can ensue.

No turnovers yesterday, by him or his team.

And maybe this healing injury was a blessing. Maybe he's being coached to be a bit more shifty in his runs instead of just acting like a mean old bull wanting to take on any and all comers. Example: that little juke leaving the oSu defender stuck in the turf at the goal line for a virtually untouched TD. I think in the past he might have just rared back and tried to plow through him.

He'll last a lot longer if he uses his head more than his heart. He's looking good right now.

Keep it up!

Hook 'em!

I've been meaning to comment here. I too haven't been a big Sam supporter but he's made dramatic progress and it deserves to be recognized.

Ehlinger's QB play has been overall excellent. He is playing as good as anyone in the country. Given his gamer attitude, great leadership, deep longhorn roots, and excellent running and passing abilities, their isn't a college QB in the country id rather have playing for the Horns.

Totally agree........we have our QB.................if we can get the OL completely restocked and lined out offense will not be our problem.

I have an aggy colleague about 10 years to my junior who has just been exceedingly critical. He played TE for aggy back in the day.

He's been quiet about Sam for the last few weeks. Curious.

I was / am still impressed this kid injured his shoulder like he did in the Bailer game and 2 weeks later he starts and throws the ball like nothing ever happened, while engineering 5 TD's for the O!! He also ran very effectively and I sensed he may have tried to avoid hits to the shoulder that could have re-injured it - smart.

I think he is getting a little better every game... upside is very high!

Was always a Shane guy but true to my word I said if Sam beats OU I was in his camp and no wavering!!! Since then he has only gotten better. That TD pass to Watson was perfection, can't see him making that throw last year or even first few games this year. Oh, and a great catch too.

You should put him on the spot - axe your aggy colleague what he thinks of Sam now....

I loved seeing his demeanor on the sideline late in the 3rd quarter. Amped up and having fun. Down by two scores and he had them right where we wanted them, LOL. I really had no doubt we would win after we got within a TD. (Then some other, um, stupid things happened, out of Sam's control)

Sam was leading the comeback. But we ran out of feet to shoot. (sort of like when an Aggy runs out of time, but we have a better understanding of the concept of time as a fixed measurement)

Sam has really grown up - it's been great to see the improvement even just over the past month, let alone year over year. As up and down as some of the other guys have been, I feel like Sam has legitimately been better every week out.

I think you mean the td throw to Ingram. Dropped it right over the shoulder and a great catch too. Sam directed a great comeback that almost succeeded in the fourth quarter.

Sorry, I did think that was Watson on the catch. Haven't been home yet to review, sorry, but it being Ingram makes me even happier. Great to see a frosh with those skills.
