It's 1st and 10, Garrett Gilbert takes the snap. He has excellent protection from the highly recruited O line. He fakes to Malcom Brown pump fakes to Mike Davis to freeze the saftey then hits Jaxon Shipley down the sideline for a Touchdown!

Corny, I know but it's been a slow day at work..

The national title is pretty much not going to happen this year but the Big 12 title is still a possibility as well as a BCS bowl bid. This season is about beating OU, Nebraska, A&M and the rest wouldn't matter to me. Oh how I do look forward to the talent of next year but I find I seem to forget the previous years class as soon as signing day is here. What ever happened to Greg Timmons.... he was supposed to be a stud.

We won't threaten an MNC until 2012 at the earliest in my opinion. That beef takes a while to age and it's pretty unrealistic to think today's recruits are going to impress on the O-line for several years.

We've got about 5 young guys playing in the 2 deep O-Line right now. 2011 is not at all out of the question to at least be in the mix for a MNC.

True, but there's a difference between being experienced and being a proven non-performer. Odds are that we have both kinds once we look back in hindsight.

what would be better is a McCoy to Shipley (who might be roommates)

We lost 2 games it is not the end of world, we have Malcolm Brown, Shipley, Miles coming, help is on the way. You cannot win every stinking year.

I also thin k great days are ahead. Unfortunately, not as part of this season or possibly next. We likely will have to endure a few more losses this year. My concern is that this years linenmen and TE are utter crap, and we will likely have to begin anew with a totally new line next season which means that next year might also be an off year (at least early on).

"Unfortunately you have to add "hope" to the statement. There are untold numbers of D1 coaches who now will be yelling that Texas football on a national level is done with little hope of bouncing back. Mack is going to have his hands full just keeping all of these guys."

IMO...VERY doubtful. These kids are football players, unlike many posters, and they understand wins and losses. They took their time to look around and are very comfortable with their choices. Did ou lose a lot of recruits with an 8-5 season? Nope. These kids are not fickle. Players that run and hide because of adversity are not what we or any program wants. Do you think Florida is having trouble recruiting? Not a bit. No difference than here except this is our team and many worry way too much about things they shouldn't.

Contrary, we are having great success on 2012 recruits as well. Edwards and Gray are VERY high on Texas. Both their Dad's are gushing over Texas and the quality of the environment and staff in general.

The problem with your fantacy is that our offensive line is already very highly recruited. Any school in the Big 12, including ou and NU would have offered all of our guys if they thought they had any chance to get them.

How about McCoy to Shipley part II?
I am just not that impressed with Gilbert yet. He probably should practice throwing passes while falling backwards with a 270 lb rock around his waist.

Why did Texas only recruit one RB for next year? If he gets injured we are down to Cody Johnson and Chris Whaley for 2011?

Cody Johnson is a pretty good back-up to have... and call me crazy but I'm a little refreshed that we will only be talking about two backs next year. I'm tired of wondering who's going to get the touches (and I'm sure Cody is too)
