A *%$#@ MS Windows Media Player question

I loaded a new sound card (not a great one, Prowler 4.1 DSP By Maddog) and now my Windows Media Player 9.0 is screwed up. The following message pops up when I try and run it:

File wmp.dll has a version of 9.0.0.2980 where 9.0.0.3075 was expected. WMP is not installed properly and must be re-installed.

I downloaded the latest 9.0 from MS and I installed it but the same thing happened. HELP.

Thanks

The sound card is integrated in the motherboard. I went into device manager and disabled it then installed the new sound card.

i think that it has drivers even though it is on-board.

my audio is on-board, yet i had to install drivers from my motherboard cd.

Shouldn't the title be 'A &*%$#@& cheap *** audio card question'?

Seriously, you should probably install the drivers from here for your sound card:

I had that problem on my laptop for a while. I seem to remember the error message going away after reinstalling WMP a couple of times.
