The '05-'06 Gators in one stretch lost 3 games in a row in February

The '06-'07 Gators lost 3 of 4 conference games in a February stretch, all by double digits

The '07-'08 Jayhawks lost 3 of 6 conference games during a tough stretch in early February

The '08-'09 Tarheels lost 2 of 3 games to start conference play in January

All 4 had weaknesses that had to be worked through and all 4 went on to win the Championship

Mid-season slumps are unavoidable. The Champions learn from them and come back stronger. There is no reason to think that Texas won't do this.

All this crap about being no better than a Sweet 16 team is ridiculous. Losing 3 of 4 games was the best thing that could happen to this team. I feel great about where they are headed.

Please enumerate the "weaknesses" that the latter 3 had. And please don't use UNC's defense as one, they won most games by 25+. The difference between our team and those is chemistry and balance. All those great teams (I.e. not earlier Florida) had played together for 2-3 years at the least. They also had Incredible inside-out games. Texas has neither, and that is the difference. Beating Okie Lite on the road does not put us back in that category...

The point was simply that our fans should not write this team off as a disappointment because of a bad 3 week stretch in January. There is clear evidence that even the best teams go through some form of a 2 to 3 week slump in a season. Obviously I was not implying that simply because Texas is going through a rough stretch they are destined for Indianapolis.

As far as comparing the weaknesses of those teams to Texas' weakness, I think that would be unfair. I watch every second of Texas basketball and have an abundance of opportunities to critique their play and analyze their weaknesses. I only watched highlights and the occasional marquee game from those teams. However, I think it would be fair to say that there was a stretch in each one of those respective seasons where the team did not look like world beaters. I do recall watching UNC in several mid-season games last year and being very underwhelmed.
