A Christmas Story 2

I was checking out at the local Mego Lo Mart the other day and noticed a boxed set of DVDs: A Christmas Story and A Christmas Story 2

Has anyone seen this? Apparently ACS2 was released directly to video (quite recently), which probably says loads about its quality. (That, and the fact that Daniel Stern is cast as The Old Man.)

From what I was able to glean from the cover, Ralphie is now a teenager and the object of his infatuation is a 1938 Lincoln convertible.

So can ACS2 be classified as:

1) a worthy sequel to the original film; or

2) a valiant and good-intentioned (but flawed) effort to recapture the magic of the original film; or

3) a cynical attempt to milk some $$$ out of unsuspecting fans of the original film.

(I would place my $$ on #3)

A Christmas Story is a timeless classic, and I believe it's on the same level of It's A Wonderful Life. I don't even need to see a preview to know that I'll never watch A Christmas Story 2.
