A/C Maintenance Tune-up in Dallas?

Anyone got a good rec for a basic spring tune-up of an old A/C unit...don't want to be sold on a new one (probably will only be in the house 1-2 more summers), but would like a good cleaning of the coils and someone to check the freon, etc.

He came recommended to me and he's been unbelievable. I used him a few times to pick his brain as well as maintenance visits. He came out in an ice storm to fix my heater, often trying to trouble shoot it over the phone with me to fix it without him having to come out.

I would be shocked if you weren't impressed - He happens to be a longhorn as well....

what is the general cost for an AC check?

I must admit, I don't know anything about AC maintenance. I haven't done anything to mine in the 5 yrs I've been in my house and it still works fine. This may be a dumb question, but is it necessary to have your AC checked, etc. if you aren't having any issues?
