A bit of drama in Norfolk

I have to agree after reading the articles... Hampton was 100% disrespected. Good for them for standing up for what they believe is right!

LOL all that stuff is definitely for motivational purposes, no doubt Coach Six knows he's seeded just where he should be based on their season performance. All this talk about being better than last year, when they were seeded 13th, is irrelevant. Seedings are based on how you measure up against other teams in the field based on wins, losses, etc. And even if they give Stanford a good game, and prove they are worthy, it's still not going to help them get a better seeding next year. Last season, as a 13th seed they took #4 seed Kentucky to OT, yet they're still a 16 seed this year. As far as I can tell they didn't have a single win vs. the RPI top 50 this year; their biggest game was vs. Florida, which they lost. And more importantly, they lost to RPI # 102 UAB and #132 Coppin State. No good wins and multiple bad losses won't even get you in the tournament, much less anything other than than a 16 seed. Hampton's SOS was ranked 260, 271 and 290 by the three services; the only reason they got in the field at all was their conf tournament win, a 1 pt. victory vs. Howard in the final. And Howard was their best win of the year also, with an RPI of 55 (which is still better than Hampton's, even with the loss). If Hampton wants to get a better seed next year they're going to have to put together a much better pre-conference schedule, and then actually win one of or two of those games, while also avoiding any losses to lowly ranked RPI teams along the way. Oh, and also win their conference tournament of course.

With all of that said, I hope they give Stanford a good game, but just don't think that's going to help them with future seedings if next year's schedule looks anything like this year's.

The NCAA women's selection committee has always been a joke to me - they never do a good job of spreading out the good teams for a chance at a more balanced tournament - think of just Texas in years past meeting la tech in the regional finals when they were 1 and 2 or close to it or meeting georgia a top 25 team in the second round - there are many others just using that as an example - they always use "travel" expenses as an excuse - so good for that coach to call them out on their "process"
