Settle a bet for better duo of 90s movies:

Shawshank and Usual Suspects

vs

LA Confidential and Fargo

And how would you rank these 1 through 4?

+1 for LA/Fargo

Shawshank > LA Confidential > Fargo > Usual Suspects

It's hard- but I have to go with the Shawshank duo- only because of Shawshank.

All four are movies I try not to miss everytime they're on. I would say:
Shawshank
Usual Suspects
LA Confidential
Fargo

Thus, a clean victory for the duo of Shawshank/Suspects for me. But again, all four are some of my all time favorites.

LA Confidential, Shawshank, Fargo, Usual Suspects

LA Confidential and Fargo are the stronger tag team.

The Usual Suspects does not hold up as well over time for me. I went from being sort of indifferent to Fargo to really liking it.

Shawshank and LA Confidential are classics. I give LA the edge because of its, well, edginess. I love watching all the characters in LA Confidential, there are so many very good ones.

Fargo - Shawshank - L.A. Confidential - Usual Suspects

I enjoyed Fargo much more than was reasonable because of the female cop character.

So I just wanted to see who won the Oscar for Best Picture for each these films' years

Shawshank - nominated but lost to Forrest Gump
LA Confidential - nominated but lost to Titanic
Fargo - nominated but lost to The English Patient
Usual Suspects - not nominated (did win for best original screenplay), Braveheart won that year

Not to say those 4 movies that won Best Picture were bad or undeserving, but that's definitely fascinating.

I hated Fargo...The Usual Suspects had one of the best lines in the history of Hollywood...Stephen Baldwin atop the roof, looking through his scope and counting the people he was going to have to kill..."one, two, three, four....five....six....seven........Oswald was a ***"
