I know there a ton of Chicago posts on here....but I've never been, am going this week and want to know where to eat. No chains (unless local), I want the local stuff. Unfortunately the Cubs aren't in town...is Wrigleyville worth visiting anyway?

We're already going to Frontera Grill and possibly Nomi (but maybe just for drinks).
Here are my questions:
Pizza....best and why?
Nice restaurant or 3...what is favorite nice restaurant and why?
Where to get a good dog?
I also need a good evening bar...possibly a jazz bar.

Staying on Michigan Avenue.

Any other suggestions not already on another thread would be welcome.

Gracias in advance.

Plenty of recent, detailed threads on dining options. As far as Wrigleyville goes, unless you're there on a friday night it is VERY low key during the week when the Cubs are out of town.

However, If you do have spare time, I would recommend that you take the 20 minute trip on the Red Line train to Addison station and take a quick stroll around the ballpark just to to say you saw it. You will quickly appreciate the uniqueness of Wrigleyville. There really is no environment like it in all of professional sports.

"oh you know there are a ton of posts here? then search for them."

Thanks for the smartass remark...I've read them. Obviously you have nothing to contribute.

Thanks for the Wrigleyville scoop.

OK for original deep dish pizza, not stuffed (yes there is a difference)...which one of these:
Lou Malnati's, Giadorno's, Gino's East, Uno, or Pizano's.

For your list of deep dish it is all a matter of taste, environment, nostaglia, etc.....myself....me and the family always go to Due's (same as uno's) just because we have always gone and think it is better than the others. Why dont really know.....Gino's, Giordanos, Lou Malnatis are all good in my book too.....honestly it is a difference in the sauce and sausage that make the difference. I love deep dish and love them all. Oh and by the way you must order sausage on your pizza you will be amazed since a chicago deep dish is actually in reverse order, cheese on the bottom, then topping (in sausage case it is a patty that covers the enitre layer) and then sauce. But if you go make sure you go to the original location.....and dont be too overly alarmed when they say it will be an hour wait. They take your order when you put your name in......

Here is my 900th post about Chicago:
Lou Malnatis or Giordanos
Chop House (Best steaks in the city)
Twin Anchors (Sinatras favorite place. Ribs and burgers. Near the Sedgewick stop on the brown line)
Wieners Circle (On the north side. If its late, ask the ladies for a chocolate milk shake)
Kingston Mines is a cool jazz bar (2400 N Halsted). My favorite is The Green Mill, but it is a 15-20 cab ride from where you are. It was Capones hangout. Its been open forever

We ate at Giordano's, Gino East, Chicago Chop House, and Portillos (hot dogs). I preferred Gino East over Giordano's but didn't go to Due or Uno.

My favorite bar in Wrigleyville was a few blocks south on Sheffield from Wrigleyvilled. Sheffield Beer & Wine Garden. THink Scholz outside but 10x smaller. Still a great place to sit outside, drink some beer and enjoy Chicago.

The Chop House (had their prime rib bone-in ribeye) was likely the best meal I have ever had.
