AUSTIN, Texas -- Jacorey Warrick planned to keep quiet when it came to his recruitment. He didn't want to reach a decision without visiting all of his top colleges.

But on Saturday, a visit to Austin was just what Warrick needed to make up his mind. The Houston Cypress Falls athlete got his offer and became commit No. 8 for Texas on Sunday.

Longhorn coaches have recruited the 5-foot-11, 175-pound junior to play slot receiver.

"He's thrilled," Cy Falls coach Kirk Eaton said. "They were definitely recruiting him as a slot receiver guy and they wanted him as their slot guy in this class. That fired him up a lot. He was very, very happy about the offer and his dad was too."

The Longhorns already entered the weekend with commitments from two of the state's best wideouts, Sealy's Ricky Seals-Jones and Dallas Jesuit's Jake Oliver.

As a junior, Warrick caught 43 passes for 856 yards and 11 touchdowns and established himself, in the opinion of Cy Falls coach Kirk Eaton, as one of the better junior receivers in Texas.

"He's the best I've ever seen, the best we've ever had," Eaton told HornsNation on Friday. "I don't know many great slot receivers there are in the state, but I promise you he's the best one."

Warrick held offers from 11 other schools and had already visited Oklahoma and Baylor. He was hoping to take a trip to LSU in the near future, but the pull of staying in-state and playing for the alma mater of his father -- a former member of the Longhorn Band -- was too great.

The addition of Warrick sets Texas up to have an impressive group of receivers for the 2013 class, considering Dallas Skyline's Ra'Shaad Samples is still weighing an offer and is considered a Texas lean.

UT also brought in receivers Eldridge Massington (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite), E.J. Jefferson (Denton, Texas/Guyer) and athlete Chevoski Collins (Livingston, Texas/Livingston) as part of the 20-person group for Saturday's junior day.The Link

He runs excellent routes and breaks lots of tackles for a smaller guy. Great burst of speed and looks like he would do well returning punts. Great pick up.

That ticking Samples ought to be hearing is his ship about to sail if he doesn't get back with Mack soon. The Horns have patience, but not infinite patience, and Warrick fills the slot receiver position quite nicely.
