does it have the same number of pipes as the ultra? if so is the only difference the clock spees?

Those of you who have clocked ti to ultra speeds do you need additional cooling on the card or is normal performance cooling enough (no extra cooling sys - water or compressor)?

Are you happy with your card if you have it?

My fan on my 9800 pro broke a while back and I have had the case open with a vornado on it but im tired of that solution.

Ima gonna get a new card then fix my 9800 and move it to one of my other boxes.
 
Not sure about the pipes. But I have the 6800 oc which is overclocked out of the box to the gt speed and this card is a beast. If you're worried about cooling the gt after overclocking you might want to check this out.

I'm pretty sure the GT has the same # of pipes as the Ultra, only difference should be clock speeds.

The regular 6800 has 12 pipes instead of 16. Someone people have been able to reactivate the pipes, but my thinking is, they disabled the pipes for a reason.
 
i have a regular 6800 (6800 nu) and it has 12 pipes. i've heard that it's possible to softmod it to 16.

and a friend of mine w/ a GT says you are correct in your assumption. also, he says

"bigger fan also & higher voltage core"


another friend adds " The difference is clock speeds and ram The U has higher memory bandwidth."
 
thanks, ive narrowed the difference down to the memory speed and clock speed. You mos def can unlock a 6800 to gt pipe solution.

i'd suggest the BFG ones. both of my friends have those and they come oced. they also have lifetime warranties.
 
I bot the BFG off an amazon gauranteed seller for 380.

I would have o/c it anyway but im happy to have it done for me. 24 hrs support and lifetime waranteed sealed it.

Not playing much anymore now that I'm maxed, how many noobs can you gank anyway. Wish it was FFA.

Playing HL2 now, there's something about sending in an army of antion minions while hiding behind a rock that is awesome.

(I'm only 29 at minimal play). Makes me want to quit and just play eq2 (since I can get and play that one for free) for my mmorpg fix.
 
battlegrounds aren't gonna be ffa.

My guild usually only plays FFA, really aren't happy with non FFA pvp.

something subtly wrong with not being able to kill anyone you want. Many times the biggest aholes are on your side.
 
i do play it but there's a huge differnce between fps and MMORPG games.
 
I guess if I can get excited about threads regarding changing electrical outlets, you guys are entitled to this.

Received it, installed it.

BFG 6800 gt o/c

Now having some problems.

reinstalled agp drivers, chipset driver, video and sound drivers and direct x.

Card works fine for non stressed aps but with HL2 and Far Cry (only ones tested) it will run for awhile then do a horrid screech sound then the screen goes blank, sound still works.

I have a 500 watt psu. Cooling doesn't SEEM to be the problem.

Thoughts?
