61-56 and then ??

Did my eyes deceive me or did we lead 61-56, Aldrich got his third foul and then .. plays to Pittman disappeared? Is this a Rick Barnes issue? I didn't even see PIttman touch the ball. I'm not sure he was even in the game. Surely he had the stamina to play the last 9 or 10 minutes in a row?

They quit going inside and started running plays for AJ again. That's the same thing that killed us against OSU. I'm glad we wont have that problem next season.

They quit going inside because Collins stopped guarding Balbay when he gave up the ball and dropped into the paint, and Taylor did the same thing to Mason, double-teaming Pittman.

Balbay has to be able to force his man to guard him. No way around it.

My fault. By going inside, I meant they quit getting the ball inside the paint both off the pass and off the dribble. Sure, they couldn't throw it to Dexter and the others as often, but they quit taking it to the basket. Against OSU, Baylor, and early yesterday the bigs would step up and set a high ball screen for Balbay to get him into the lane easier and let him finish or distribute. But, against OSU and KU we started running the baseline ball screens in crunch time, and watching AJ throw up terrible shots.

Bob in Houston - I agree with your analysis. Pittman was drawing an immediate double-team. With no scoring threat, he usually tries to fight through it.

God, I hope he comes back next year with more shooting options around him.
