TTU converted 6 of 8 4th downs! One of the 2 they did not convert was because the QB slipped making his cut.

These were not all 4th and short. I remember thinking when it was 3rd and 10 that TTU has us where they wanted us.

TTU converted a 3rd and 26. How do you jump offside on 3rd and 26.

Still would've been 3rd and 21. Tackling the WR when the ball wasn't in the same zip code is sheer stupidity.

I remember reading about this high school coach, Kevin Kelly, years ago. He was and is still known as "The Coach Who Never Punts." That moniker isn't truly true – it should be "The Coach Who Rarely Punts."

From a Sports Illustrated article last year:

"After winning nine state championships in 18 years as the coach at Pulaski Academy, a private high school in Little Rock, he was named the new coach of Presbyterian College, an FCS school in Clinton, S.C., on May 7 (2021)."

"Anyone who knows Kelley knows he won’t be deterred from implementing his unique coaching style at the collegiate level. He won more than 200 games at Pulaski while rarely punting and frequently onside-kicking, and he’s never one to tailor his style to the perceived norm."

One of the guys that works for me is a Presbyterian alum and he said Kelley's shtick didn't work there. Kelley went 2-9 and 0-8 in conference and only lasted one year. Looked like he is out of coaching now.

We should have taken Tech's failed 4th down attempt from their own ~40 yd line in the first possession of the 2nd half and shoved it down their throats for a 17 pt lead and full momentum to put the game away but instead, we went 4 and out and gave them the ball right back. I have no doubt that if we had done that people in Lubbock would have been roasting Joey over his decision to go for it there.

The wildcat formation is a joke so far this season. It's the same as when everyone and their mom knew that Ehlinger would run on 4th and 1. Roschon should be able to do more than push Bijan into a gap and hope to follow him. Run a jet sweep. Run outside with two pulling linemen. Throw a jump ball. Anything but run straight into the weak OL. We should be converting those 4th downs as well.

I'm shocked they haven't run anything more creative out of that formation.
If they are saving too much for ou..then Sark doesn't understand Big12 play. That game at tech should have been approached as a win at all cost game and it looked to me from the jump that both players and coaches were waiting for the "real" games to start.

We've talked about "saving stuff for OU" after every early season struggle of the past 20-30 years. Outside of maybe 2013 has it ever actually been true? If anything, we usually wait until after losing to OU to start making changes. :/

On 3rd and long and 4th down, tceh said here, hold my beer and then:

The Horns gave up 3rd and 26 - then - 3rd and 20 for first downs...

I'm sorry, what team are you talking about? This site is dedicated to The University of Texas Longhorns playing against a D-1 opponent. Quarters are only 15 minutes long, Our OL would take a quarter & a half to pull outside, then I doubt they would hit anyone including a band member at halftime.

I didn't know if that was a real thing or not.
If it is...it shouldn't be...at least not with the state of our program the last 12 years. I just know I've heard Sark mention multiple times things like "not showing everything".
And my point was...if that's the attitude of anyone then they don't understand how easy it is to lose a Big12 road game to people who want to beat you more than anything in the world.
