I think this team could be overrated? Right now they are 2 - 3 at home in Big 12 play, I cannot remember them having a losing record at home in quite some time?
Well, noone has us ranked too highly and we probably drop out of the top 20 next week.
I keep hearing how great the freshmen are and I see glimpses. But this is shaping up to be the worst team in about six years. I know it's early but we havent played our usual salty non conference schedule either.
Ive been saying I have Longhorn fatigue since after the NCs in 2005, but viewership and fanhood hasnt suffered yet. I'm afraid the baseball team will be the first victim of my fatigue. It's just too much work to follow them for error-fests, pitching meltdowns and shutouts.
But wait... they HAVE to win, otherwise those close-in parking lots reserved for the FIRST-CLASS donors will be conspicuously empty on a regular basis.
Yeah in general I'm a pretty big sunshine pumper, and while I do still think we've got a chance to be really good by the end of the year, we pretty much just suck right now.
We are young and talented which means we are also inconsistent. The team isn't playing the best right now but I have a little hope we can get hot around May/June and that is what matters.
Hey guys, I know Texas is going through some growing pains right now, but rest easy knowing you simply lost to a good team the last two nights.
Remember that it's still early and there is PLENTY of time for Texas to make up ground, especially with that offense. I'm still in disbelief that Weber actually threw a two hit shutout against that offense last night - I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous in the ninth because of all the voodoo Texas has had against us since 96.
Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint and it's still way too damn early to claim Texas won't even make the field of 64 in May. Too good of a program for that to happen. After we lost the home series to Texas in 05, I doubted whether the Huskers had the mental makeup to respond after letting a potential series win slip through their grasp. We ended up in Omaha that year.
Just remember to enjoy the ride. It is a LONG season.
I don't feel bad that we lost to NU, they are a good team and Weber was nails last night. The frustrating part is having a 4-0 lead and losing by 10. The frustration lies in making multiple errors per game. It was frustrating last night that we couldn't get a bunt down at all.
Lets get Cameron Rupp into the game and Preston to third. And platoon Moldehauer and Keyes in left. And let Tant and Torres DH. Thats my two sense which is worth nothing.
The '05 team was 4-5 in conference play before finishing 16-10. Not saying this team will win a title, but this team will improve dramatically over the course of the season. Not going to make the tourney? Seriously?
