Excellent film. It could have been maudlin and sicky-sweet, especially when you consider that it's based on a true story, but it's not. JG-L is very believable as Adam, a young man recently diagnosed with a rare and serious cancer.

I especially appreciated it since I lost my mama to cancer, and I myself was diagnosed with a rare cancer earlier this year. Thankfully, mine was nowhere near as serious as Adam's, but it resonated with me all the same.

Seth Rogen's Kyle is the master of the inappropriate comment that breaks the tension. Philip Baker Hall and Matt Frewer are outstanding as cancer patients who show Adam the upside to chemo.

Anjelica Huston is outstanding as a woman who's husband cannot talk to her and her son won't. She could have played it over the top, but she keeps a quiet restraint that I found heart-wrenching.

Definitely worth the price of admission. And popcorn.
