5 Americans played for Fulham today

I looked at the box score for the Fulham vs Everton game and noticed that 5 Americans played for Fulham today.

Starters:

Kasey Keller
Brian McBride - G 67'
Eddie Johnson


Bench/Subs:

Carlos Bocanegra - 74'
Clint Dempsey - 88' (for McBride)

There were never more than 4 on the field at any one time for Fulham, but I thought that you could only dress 4 non-EU players.

Is it that you can only have 4 on the field at any one time?

ALSO- Tim Howard started (and lost) for Everton, so a total of 6 Americans played in the game and for the last 16 minutes plus injury time, there were 5 on the field.

I've never heard of the "4 non-EU" rule. It certainly doesn't exist in Football Manager.
