5 - 21 yr old males

My nephew is visiting from out of the country and bringing 4 friends. They'll be here next Sunday through Thursday, Aug. 10-14

I'd like to point them toward some places that are fun and uniquely Austin, for people of that age. I was thinking Continental, Antone's, etc. but I'm pushing 40. What are good spots to catch live music, not just shot bars?

Daytime, I'm thinking Barton Springs, maybe deep Eddy. Any and all help is much appreciated.

Wow, there are a million places. For music, just head them north on Red River from 6th St (Emo's, RM 710, Beerland, Club Deville, Stubb's, etc.), as well as Antone's, Saxon Pub, Cactus Cafe, Continental Club, Trophy's, Elephant Room (jazz), Hole In The Wall, etc.

Restaurants: Chuy's, Shady Grove, Threadgill's, Vespaio, Guero's, Curra's, Hut's, Casino El Camino, Mother's, Cafe Josie, Hudson's On The Bend, Gumbo's, etc.

I'd say send them out to Pace Bend Park for cliff jumping during the day, but the lake's so low right now that might be suicidal.

Maybe catching a show at Alamo Drafthouse Ritz and then after that Sixth. One night on Sixth Street bouncing around from bar to bar is a must.

barton springs had some really nice 21 year old eye candy last time i was out there.... well every time i've been out there. that is a good day plan.

Rent a boat and go to Devils Cove.

which of these areas makes most sense for 21 yr olds.

Red River - Mohawk, Beerland, Red7, RedEyedFly, 710, etc

6th proper - shot bars, etc.

6th West, Tiniest bar, Opal's, etc (don't know this area vry well)

Antones / 4th Street - what's the places near Antone's?

Continental / SoCo

I'm thinking Red River one night, maybe eat at Casino el Camino

maybe unplugged at the Grove one night if it's happening that week

Maybe Guero's and Continental Happy Hour before hitting 6th street

maybe Antone's Monday night there's supposed to be some soul band there each week.

Maybe get some Sam's one night late, or Ruby's bbq on 29th.

Maybe hit Manor Rd. for El Chilito or red House.

There are lots of choices but I'd like to hear from someone that age who knows of something specific that will have a lot of people that age hanging out.

that's a hell of a large age range for a group of friends. if the 21 year old(s) do the bar thing, the 5 year old(s) will feel left out.
