If you're contemplating sizzle, be advised that you have to at least guarantee a peek at your clam for him to even contemplate something other than a screw-top bottle.
Back when I was young and stupid, we would go into the Britain rooms on AOL and just type, "1812" or "1776"....or "The British built the Titanic, where is it now?"
Zilker park and watching the fireworks is good times, I did it last year. However, make sure you have 2 hours to spare sitting in traffic on your way out. Also, make sure you have a thick blanket, that grass is sharp!
As long as you don't try to roll in a 16-gallon keg or something, you're fine. Like Blues on the Green, if you don't make a big scene out of it, carrying a few in w/ an ice chest is fine. May want to hold onto your beer when that B-1 flies over. Pretty ******* loud.
on the fourth i am going to a friends house in north austin to bbq, swim, and set off fireworks in his backyard, hoping we don't burn the block down.
friday, my college buddy is coming in from chicago for his brother's bachelor party that we are all invited to. He is getting a houseboat and strippers and my roommate is bringing his ski boat. Strippers and boating are sure to provide for a good time.
Does anyone know about a concert at Waterloo Park on the fourth? I think that it is being billed as "Pat Green & Friends". I could not find a lot about this on the web...the closest listing for "and friends" that I could find is "Cory Morrow, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Django Walker, and others".
I was just trying to find something different, and did not really want to go to town lake. I also did not want to post this on that other Pat Green thread because I did not want to discuss his musical talent (or lack of). Just thought the whole concert could be interesting.
Given the crappy weather it's probably gonna be a low key 4th for me. Gonna fire up the Weber & slow roast a pork shoulder for some pulled pork sandwiches, draining a cooler of Sam Adams in the process. My GF and I are having some friends over & will attempt to duplicate Trudy's Mexican Martini recipe through trial and error. Then we may end up out at a friend's house on Lake Travis to watch fireworks. Nothing thrilling, but I plan on having a nice, sustainable buzz for about 18 straight hours.
i am not a big pat green or cory morrow fan. i really like robert earl keen and charlie robison though, i think that they are VERY talented songwriters and awesome performers.
that said, i am going to the pat green & friends concert at waterloo park for the 4th. although i think that pat green & cory morrow are not that talented, i still like them more than top 40 country. and it should be alot of fun. however, we are going to drink beer and grill before we go out there.
Texas97-
Have you been to a concert at Waterloo Park before? I wonder how crowded this thing will be. I also could not find a time that everything is starting.
I'm not much of a Pat Green fan either, but I thought it sounded better than other suggestions my friends had...they want to BBQ at my place, and I don't want to spend the 5th cleaning!
Waterloo is plenty big. The stage area gets crowded, but there is always plenty of space further out, and if you get there early, you can get some prime real estate on the hill.
i have never been to waterloo park. not sure what the ticket situation is like, we got ours last week. i hope that it isn't a sellout b/c i have some friends who don't have tickets yet.
the gates open at noon and if it is anything like the willie nelson 4th of july picnic, the 1st act will likely go on about 1-2pm and cory morrow should get on at about 6-7pm and pat green at 9pm.
someone mentioned a thread on pat green. where is that?
