40th birthday trip - Mexico?

We are planning a 40th birthday trip w/ a group of 10 - 12 UT grads for next Fall / Winter. We want to go to the beach in Mexico or the Caribbean. Any suggestions?

We do want to go somewhere that is easy to get to from Houston / Dallas. We are considering Atlantis but heard it is difficult to get to.

FYI - I went to La Casa Que Canta in Zihuantenejo after getting great advice from this board.

Just got back from Cabo and had a great time. Great golf courses, but they are expensive. Some of the best Sushi I've eaten...

What can you tell me about Zihuatanejo? I'm going there for my honeymoom in 2 weeks (La Casa Que Canta). Any must things to do or eat?

We'll be able to provide a review of Huatulco soon... have heard nothing but great things and Continental runs a direct flight out of Houston. Of the places I've been in Mexico, I would say 1. Cabo 2. Ixatpa/Zihuat 3. Cancun. We'll see where Huatulco fits.
