31-31

They need a boost of energy from the Women's Team.
They look so flat.
Why Turner don't start. Ridley is just too slow.

We were 10 ******* point favorites

I only caught the last bit of regulation and overtime. It looked to me as if Felix was trying to win the game by himself. He's not the guy who I want shooting in end-of-game situations.

I hate losing. Come on team, let's crush the next several opponents. We are better than that!! (Felix said as much after the game)

It didn't help that Ridley missed something like the last 10 min of the game after colliding heads with Holland. But I agree that our offense was stagnant and that meant Felix had to create on his own. Holmes was very quiet in this game as well. It's not like Stanford was running any kind of offense, they just jacked up shots and they fell when they needed them. Turner made a bad turnover in OT with about 3 min left and was subbed out. We did not score again (I don't think). I would have left Turner in there.

"Really? Lost to unranked Stanford @ home?"

Really? Complaining about a December OT loss to a 7-3 team (who also pummeled UNLV, the same team that beat #3 Arizona the other day)? It wasn't long ago that we hankered for any type of win at home, let alone a win against a decent team.

People need to temper basketball expectations a bit until February. Firstly, because no one cares about what happened in December come selection committee time. This isn't football. Second, because we're without arguably our best player for a while longer. We'll be one of the 5 most dangerous teams in the country when the NCAAs roll around (similar to UVA, Michigan, or Villanova in 2014). I think games like the loss the other night help the team find its identity, especially considering Taylor's absence. Had we won, it wouldn't have changed anything.

This is just typical Barnes, if all you expect is a decent to good baseketball team with no real threat to go very deep in the tournament most years, you will never be dissapointed. Barnes is an inconsistent motivator, it was very clear that Stanford wanted this game alot more, the Longhorns played hard they just couldn't match Stanfords intensity.

Not that it probably made any difference in the game, but didn't notice that Holmes lost a tooth during the game (I only got to watch part of the game, and that without sound):
The Link

Went to the Texas Sports website and did a quick archive review of the 8 men's sports and 9 women's sports with links there (somewhat incomplete, particularly for less-important sports).

Most recent info on how the 8/9 are doing recently (2014 rankings/finishes and/or 2014-5 current):

Men, final, current national ranking
baseball, #3
basketball, # 9
football, N/R
golf, finished #4
swimming & diving, #2
tennis, #8
cross country, #26
track & field, #11

Women
basketball, #3
golf, #19
rowing, ??
soccer, N/R
softball, #15 early, final N/R, lost in regional final
swimming & diving, #2
tennis, #22
track & field, #2
cross country, ??
volleyball, #6

If I were the university president I would have a sitdown with men's and women's ADs and have a talk with them about Men's football (N/R), cross country (#26 ), and Women 's rowing (?? ), soccer (N/R), tennis (22 ), and cross country (?? ).

What the HELL is THEIR problem?

Don't they understand that UT does not accept mediocrity, and that it starts with THEM?

Harumph!!
