30 wins this year?

I don't care how early it is: This team is not very good and I don't see us turning the corner this year.

We do not seem to have ANY leadership and our fielding makes me sick. 20 e's in our last 8 games! Of course, today, everything made me sick.

Sadly, we won't choke away our Top-8 seed this year - because we don't look like we are even a Top-20 team this year. 8-5, we won't see the Super Regionals "again" this year.

Flame away, but I blame a lot of this on AG and TH.

It's hard to believe 2005 was just 3 years ago. We are miles away from that team.

Your frustration is understandable, but you're wrong. This is one of the most talented, but also one of the most inexperienced teams Garrido has had here. No one, and I mean NO ONE, has the pitching depth that we do. And very few teams are gonna be able to put runs on the board like we do. Fielding is a cause for concern, however, as I've been saying, it will come around.

I think this team, when it's all said and done, will be one of the last standing in Omaha.

This team is young. They will makes plays of major league caliber and then have one of the stupidest errors I have ever seen. If they can get it together, they will be dangerous.

I don't see this pitching depth you speak of. As far as pitchers who can get people out, I see two starters, one reliever and that's about it.

I hope I am dead wrong. I just don't think I am.

This team reminds me a lot of our last 2 teams.

I still think this team makes it to Omaha. Our talent on the mound is just too much, it's just going to take some time to sort through the early season mistakes. Not many teams in the country (Arizona excluded) can run out the caliber of arms that Texas has this year. We're talking about Boening, Whitmer, Walker, etc being top prospects in summer leagues.

Once Kesperak turns it around and Boening gets healthy, we will have three great weekend starters and some amazing talent out of the bullpen. Plus this team has the most offensive potential that a Texas team has had in a LONG time.

If we can iron out these defensive issues I think we'll be in Omaha again. How can this team struggle defensively? We havent had a team make this many home errors in a long time, and I thought Hernandez and Torres were supposed to be great defensive players.

Bump.

Certainly one great performance doesn't mean that our pitching staff won't struggle anymore this season. However, I think it was sufficiently proven last night that we have more than three pitchers that can get batters out.

hey it could be worse, you could be USC. God we suck and we've sucked now 5 of the last 6 years, haven't been to Omaha since 2001, haven't won it since 1998.

Painful I tell you.

Texas = team of the decade easily, 2 NC plus another appearance in the NC series, oh and 5 CWS appearances, and finally 4 conference titles, that's crazy good. We always knew Auggie would bring you guys back.

Voice of reason from CA.

My biggest HF regret is not saving those posts from 2001 calling for Coach's head and the ones from early 2002 calling for Coach's head and firmly stating that "that damned California hippie is NOT what we need at a storied program like Texas". If someone had the foresight to save any of those, I'd love to TTT.

Thanks for being this year's soon-to-be-famous thread starter.

Every year...

30 wins? Let's see, the team has already won 11, they have 36 left, so if we assume that they're only going to win about half of those, then yeah, 30 wins sounds plausible.

Sometimes I wonder how long some of you have been watching Texas baseball. To throw your hands up after 15 games and whine like little girls because they lost a few is ridiculous. No, I am not happy with the errors. But that's about the only thing that I'm not happy with. Other than that, Texas might have the most talented team in all of college baseball. The pitching, especially considering the youth of the staff, is great. The hitting is excellent. There is speed everywhere. And a man named Augie Garrido in the dugout. So some of you need to relax, and just let it be.

In my opinion it's still a little early to gauge the quality of this team, but it wont suck in any case. Going to Omaha, and how well they ultimately do, will almost certainly depend on a complete pitching staff as it always does. I'm hoping that our defensive woes are in part due to the accelerated schedule. This really is a young team but I think we have the coaching staff to work them through it. We should just enjoy the baseball at this point. It's should be a glorious day at the park today.

Let's get rid of that Rick Barnes fellow too. He has zero national championships. I'm willing to give Mack Brown another year or two.

Rick Barnes is pushing for 30 wins this year too.

We are 8-11 vs. teams in the Top-100 and have lost 6 of our last 11.

18 games to win 8. Give me some odds.
