Yesterday, two of the hurricanes were Category 4 at the same time, which was the first time that has happened since 1921, I believe the weather guy said.
I heard on the TV that it's a weak Bermuda high that's causing so many of the storms to veer off before reaching the U.S. If the Bermuda high was strong, the storms would be much further west (such as in the Caribbean or Gulf) before making the right-hand turn. Sorry for the people of Bermuda ... but I live in Brazoria County (15 miles from the coast) and was required to evacuate for Rita and Ike. I've learned to appreciate El Nino and a weak Bermuda high.
