If you all haven't watched any of these games, start tuning in. So far, one of the semi-final match ups is set - Duke vs. So. Illinois. If UCLA wins tonight, which they should, the other semifinal will be UCLA vs. Michigan. That game alone will be worth watching.

Manny Harris, Michigan soph. SG, is an unbelievable talent. He would match up with either Josh Shipp or the true frosh Jrue Holiday for UCLA.

Michigan 76, Northeastern 56
Last night, Michigan played well once they got going. Harris had another outstanding night after going for 30 the night before. Manny just missed a triple double. This kid has a legitimate shot at winning Big Ten POY. Start watching him. I watched every possession of his last year and fell in love with his game.

UCLA 82, Prairie View A&M 58
UCLA came on strong in the 2nd half after a sloppy 1st half. I know they were up big at the half, but they were all over the place. That is bound to happen, however, when you play so many freshman. Malcolm Lee looked very good, as did Holiday. The big men in Gordon and Morgan also played well, although Morgan has some work to do. UCLA's problem this year will be on the boards. They aren't very big. Aboya is their best post player, but he is VERY foul prone.

Anyone else watching college bball already?

Since I only watched the second half, I thought Prairie View looked pretty good.

Not a big fan of Michigan hoops (or Michigan anything as far as that goes), but I do like Beilein. I watched the first eight or 10 minutes of Michigan Tech-Michigan and I was not impressed.

I would have liked seeing UH get in against Duke, but I imagine I wouldn't have liked what I saw.

Michigan's athletic program has pretty much evaporated. It could be a few years before Beilein and Rodriguez get it back on track. I remain underwhelmed with what I've seen out of each so far which is suprising because they were both overachievers at WVU.

I've had my head up my *** regarding other stuff, or I would have tuned in. I appreciate your write up, and pointing out Manny Harris. I'll pay more attention now.

I was going to write up some stuff on Michigan here...but figured no one would care...

Manny is tremendous and we Michigan fans are very excited about him and DeShawn Sims. I hope Manny can handle the pressure of doing it night and night out now. It's a shame that Udoh decided to transfer.

As for not being impressed with either Beilein or Rich Rod....well...I'm not going to try and change your mind but I believe if you spent more time watching Michigan football and basketball you'd see tremendous improvements either from what they took over (Beilein) or implementing their system (Rich Rod).

Finally...To say Michigans athletic department has evaporated is a pretty uninformed opinion.

SL...You will really enjoy watching Harris. He is long, lean and extremely athletic. He's got as much confidence as KD when it comes to scoring. Beilein wants Manny to work on using the pieces around him better this year. It will be interesting to watch him against UCLA and Duke (even if Michigan loses to UCLA they play Duke a few weeks later.)

To quickly make a comment on Beilein. I don't know how anyone can say he has underwhelmed after his continued success at all levels of basketball. Last year he took over a putrid team left over by Amaker. Amaker was a great guy but by the end he was simply recruiting whoever would come without much concern for style or position.

As last season progressed Michigan really improved. The effort Beileins teams put out is amazing...The motion/princeton offense is entertaining and the 1-3-1 defense after made baskets is pure energy. Unfortunately he is still having to make due with leftovers because he has a walk-on PG starting and not much height at all with Udoh leaving. Michigan just signed Darius Morris at PG out of Los Angeles (#71 on Rivals) who good things are expected of when he gets on campus. I think Beilein is an amazing coach and I feel starting next year you will really see the transformation in the team.

UCLA avoided the upset bid. I would expect more close games like this one when UCLA plays good, experienced teams. Losing these type of games wouldn't be a surprise either. The lack of experience on the UCLA squad will be a problem and that means Shipp, Collison, Roll, Aboya, etc. will play heavy minutes.

I really liked the Bramos kid from Miami (OH). A Miami (OH) kid hasn't caught my eye since Wally. He did it all last night, shoot, rebound, block shots....all for a 6'5" guard. He really took advantage of his experience when going against the freshman. I hope he gets an invite to the PIT in April.

I heard and update on this game on Radio Sports Center on 1530 this morning and I swear the guy said that UCLA stretched their non-conference home winning streak to 30 games.

Didn't we beat them at Pauley last year? Maybe I mis-heard him or we played at the Forum or some other site.

What did I tell you guys? Great game tonight! Final of Duke vs. Michigan. They meet again in a few weeks in Ann Arbor in their regularly scheduled match up.
