24 hours in New York

Long story short, I have family that's taking a road trip from Texas to NY. They'll crash with me in DC Friday night, then we'll all drive to NY Saturday morning. Family will be there for several days, but I'll take either the bus or train back to DC Sunday night.

So, I'll get there probably noonish on Saturday and leave late evening on Sunday. What should I do and see to make the most of the trip? I went to NY about 15 years ago, so I saw a number of the touristy things and don't need to do the Statue of Liberty. Other than that, I'm open to just about anything and want to make the most of my 24 hours there. Suggestions?

Yankee or Mets game?
The Met?
Take a walk down Park Avenue?
Go to the top of the Empire State Building?
Pub crawl?

Heading to NYC for the first time ever over Thanksgiving weekend. Wife and I will be there for three days flying in/out of JFK and staying at the DoubleTree in Times Square. Would appreciate input from the Orangebloods on what to do/where to go (e.g., where's the game-watching party?)

Im going to NYC in a couple of weeks and plan to hit a few restraunts while Im there. Im looking to go to Sushi Samba and Morimotos.

Two common misconceptions:

1 - Do not do the Empire State Building, do Top of the Rock.
2 - Do not watch the game at Stout, watch the game at Hill Country BBQ.

In the basement at HCBBQ, there were probebly 50 people watching the Ark State game on one ginormous screen, and two 40 inchers over the side bar. Much much better than stout.

damn your evil.

the issue I see w/ watchiung at HCBBQ is that i will over eat and then not be able to go out post game without a significant nap and deuce drop.

I used to have a good time at The Back Page @ 83/3 about a year ago when i lived there.

Lots of young graduates used to get together there.

SushiSamba is not great. Morimoto is better, but the service is terrible. It is a nice physical plant though.

last time i was in nyc i had sushi at matsuri next door to hiro. i liked that place.

i also watched the nebraska game last year at stout and really enjoyed it - much, much better than my previous experiences at the back page.

I went to the Mets game on Saturday afternoon and had a great time.

East Coast baseball fans are something else. Completely different experience than a Rangers or Astros game.
