In committing to the Horns the 6-3, 290-pound defender becomes the Longhorns 22nd commitment and the seventh among Rivals100. He chose the Longhorns over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Stanford, and Texas A&M.

Looks like the rumors I heard were correct. I am glad he took his time and made sure that this is where he wants to be. Nothing is better than having a kid with great talent who loves his school. Congrats on taking your time Russel and **** some **** up! (on the field that is)
 
Yeah, big commitment, this guy could be key for us. At 6-3, 280 he might even play NT. He's big and quick, and had offers from 20+ schools including OU, Nebraska, and Bama. Never can have too much DT depth.

Sweet!

Another big time defensive recruit. Going to be an even sicker defense in a couple of year. I can't see how anybody in the BIg 12 is going to be able to keep up.
 
The above poster could not be more right about DT depth. This is one position where the ability to substitute without a significant dropoff in ability can pay HUGE dividends. Welcome to the 40, Quincy!

Really good news to hear that he thought about this and now feels good about doing what he wanted to do in the first place. His heart and his mind had to get in the same place and now he's a Horn.

Doesn't he play basketball too? If so, that's a pretty athletic DT. Maybe Barnes could use him to set some picks on the low block.

Getting Quincy was a great pick-up 2 months ago and is more so Today with all the many more offers he's garnered! He's going to be a great one because he has great quickness & is very agile/athletic...
