Anyone seen this movie yet? Thinking about going tonight it looks pretty good. I realize there is a thread about it, but its just bickering about using asians or whatnot.

If you read the book, you will be very disappointed. If you really want to watch it, wait for it to come out on DVD. It was not so good.

I'm not Asian, nor really give a **** about Asians as an ethnic minority, but still think it ****** they changed the race of the hero from an Asian guy to a white guy.

Even worse, the actor playing him is BRITISH.

The real guy:

that is ****** because one of the main reasons they chose asians was because they can pose as rich hong kong kids.

That is a different book by the same author about a different MIT blackjack team that existed around the same time.

There were multiple MIT blackjack teams. Vegas must hate MIT. The different teams used completely different systems. No one (except maybe a few MIT professors) really knows how many teams there were, but they made a bunch of money.

Without going to see the movie I'm going to BET it sucks.

See what I did there? A little play on words.

No chance in hell I would've seen it, but thanks for the heads up.

I still cant figure out why counting cards is illegal. Hell, if you are smart enough to remember that many cards then you should have every right to win.

I thought the movie was pretty good, pretty entertaining.

I did read the book and if you are looking for that, you will be disapointed.

Also, card counting really isn't that hard. I'm no genius and I can count inti a 2 deck shoe. The problem with it is that it is so ******* tedious its almost unbearable. You can sit for hours before the count gets good and it may only last for 2 hands.

Also, they way exagerate its effectiveness. Counting cards basically swithches the odds from about 48.5% against to maybe 51.5% for. Over a long period you can win but not like they did in the movie.

I saw the movie and it was fine. As others have said it strays greatly from the book, and I think that it's problem is being tied to the book in the first place. If you went to see it as a straight up fictional movie I don't think it would bug y'all as much.
