Shakira Austin was someone Aston recruited and offered; think she might have even visited Texas unofficially before committing to Maryland.
The good news, if any, is that these transfers won't be allowed to make campus visits any time soon; so, that helps us out in our current situation.. But, other head coaches will get ahead of the game by making contact with prospective transfers, and begin building relationships (if they don't already have them from the past).Damn, damn, damn. As you’ve rightly pointed out we don’t have a chance with the transfer market because of the unknowns. She’s a very good player with potential to be great. Yes, Coach Aston recruited her.
Yeah, she obviously already has a relationship with Coach Aston and Coach George but I also think she was recruited by Coach Nooner while he was at Maryland before he took a job with the NBA.The good news, if any, is that these transfers won't be allowed to make campus visits any time soon; so, that helps us out in our current situation.. Raoul reported Texas has 3 open roster spots and we have 2 more scholarship available to give as we will only have 12 players next season and sophie taylor will be gone so that will leave a scholarship open. That is assuming everyone on the current roster is on scholarship.Haven't focused on our scholarship numbers over the last few weeks.
What I do know is that 2 senior graduate-transfers would help balance our roster due to the departed 2017 signing class.
Don't think we have a lot of open 'ships for underclassmen as we have one or two verbal commitments already for 2021 and 2022, right?
The same reason Katie Benzan and Karisma Ortiz have.lol why would transfers follow KA? 8 years at Texas and no championships.
Duncanville's Zarielle Green is leaving Tennessee:
Yeah, I recall how she verbally committed to Kansas along with a couple of her Duncanville teammates after their official visit to Lawrence; but, then she decommitted. Added Tennessee and South Carolina to her list; visited Tennessee officially, and then committed and signed with the Lady Vols. Didn't seem to give the in-state programs a look, except maybe Texas A&M.Interesting, but not surprising. She sat out this year because of injury right? Which means unless they pass the immediate transfer rule later on this summer she’ll have sat out for 2 years.
Notice that her post said something about "Due to my actions..."
This transfer thing is getting out of hand. I get some may be for legit reasons and I don't fault them but I really am wondering what's going on at these schools to the point where so many players are transferring. Besides that hopefully we go for her. Probably not going to get her but never hurts to try.
Agreed. I don't know how many scholarships we have to give out if any but I do think we need to use them on a versatile post player who can face up and play back to the basket and we need a fowardSince we have a grad transfer coming in at PG from Harvard, I wouldn't think Slocum would be a target for us (unless she and/or Katie could also play SG. Figuring we have depth at issues at other positions that need to be addressed. Still, Slocum provides a lot of skill, especially perimeter shooting which we desperately need; but, if she believes her future as a pro is at PG, she will end up somewhere where she is the guaranteed starter for her final season.
Well now that Karen is out it's time to get a big name coach and reset this program and get our recruiting back.We have 3 open 'ships for this season. But, if we use them other than on grad-transfer seniors with one year of eligibility remaining, it trickles down and lessens the available 'ships for the classes of '21 and '22.
I find the wording of Rickea Jackson's mother very interesting, "As of today she's still a Dawg."
So she might not be a Dawg tomorrow.
