here are 2021 odds as of January ...

Top 10 odds:
  • Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma (+300)
  • DJ Uiagalelei, Clemson (+500)
  • JT Daniels, Georgia (+600)
  • Sam Howell, North Carolina (+700)
  • Bryce Young, Alabama (+700)
  • Kedon Slovis, Southern California (+1000)
  • D’Eriq King, Miami (+1200)
  • Jack Miller III, Ohio State (+1600)
  • Jaylon Daniels, Arizona State (+1800)
  • Bijan Robinson, Texas (+2200)

I predict, as usual, it will be a beauty contest decided by what the top 2 or 3 do the last week before voting. All the rest of the season will matter not. See 2005, 2008, and 2009.

Agreed - amazes me (although not sure why as I know the answer) you can wind up on the top ten list never having played a meaningful snap in your college career.

beauty contest. And why is it named after a jerk like Heisman? 222-0 over Cumberland College. Way to go, coach. You showed them!

And what the eff is the NYC Downtown Athletic club? is it like the YMCA gym for loudmouth New Yorkers? It is the greatest city in the world, you know. Just ask them.

Hopefully, BR's goes up and Rattler's goes down after the October Dallas visit.
They have already moved significantly between the two...Ratller has seen the number drop substantially. These were from yesterday at Circa (Las Vegas). I suspect that, at a minimum and presuming more performances like last week, Bijan will be invited to the event as a finalist...

I have so far not forgotten a young man with a sign at the 2005 CCG at Reliant Stadium between Texas and Colorado. It said, "Heisman Voters! Don't look dumb on Jan 5, vote Vince Young!" How prophetic.

All I know is that Bijan Robinson is no Kedon Slovis......

Ok, was funning around but had no idea who Kedon Slovis was but apparently not a bad qb for USC....

Those highlighted in red are out.....maybe more.

If we avoid another Arky disaster, I like Bijan's chances.

why is it named after Heisman? He ran up the score in the worst mismatch in history when his Georgia Tech play for pay bunch beat Cumberland 222-0

and why does the NY downtown athletic club control this? How many good college players come from NY?

Another problem is that former Heisman winners get to vote so it can lien toward schools w living Heisman

This is the time of year I enjoy looking at those way-too-early listings and contrasting them with the current sheet (like the one from Circa).

What always amazes me on the sheet is JUST how many people have numbers attached to them. And yes, if there is a number, that means someone LIKELY was plunking down some amount of money.

Probably a dumb question but maybe not. And I haven’t been on the betting sites or to Vegas. (Can’t bet online from CA, to my knowledge. I could go the VPN route but if I were to win big, I have a feeling that I’d get screwed, and never see the money. “We didn’t know that you were actually betting from CA. Sorry, but we cannot honor that bet.”)

Will a casino actually take a bet on Bijan and pay 2800 to 1? I cannot imagine getting more than 300 to 1, if that.

Not a dumb question at all, because it throws off a lot of people now that so many of the Vegas books use those numbers. It is basically 28/1, meaning that $100 would pay back $2800 plus the original $100.

This nomenclature seems to have moved to the US shores following some of the online books and merger acquisitions that involved the UK-owned/operated entities. But much like the old fractional listings we used to see, a lower number means one is closer to being the betting 'favorite.'

Oh, and as to the geofencing question...depending on how close you are to the border of Nevada, you just need to be in the State in order to use the apps. But the legitimate books are generally geofenced well enough to prevent those outside of Nevada at the time of the bet to place it...if you are INSIDE of Nevada boundaries, you could bet with the apps, no matter whether Circa, BetMGM or any of the others licensed to do business in Nevada.
