Errbody talking about no football, but that would mean on Volleyball. If a delay in football, would they also delay volleyball, or cancel it ?

If anything volleyball will be postponed right along with football if that were to be the case. The only thing that worries me is that the big 12 commissioner said no teams in the big 12 will play no sports until all students are able to return to campus which might not happen this fall.

has anyone heard about the 2020 schedule? They normally would have released it by now but I have heard absolutely nothing.
It's still early. Last year it was May 7th and since TV, including LHN, has stepped up the broadcasting it has typically been that late. I wouldn't be surprised to see the release pushed even further this year. They normally would have already collected season ticket orders by this time and haven't.

Now that Texas Volleyball is now accepting season ticket deposits does anyone think they are about to release the schedule? As @TempestHorn said above, they released the schedule on May 7th last year so I was getting my hopes up the entire day waiting to hear the schedule was released but it didn't happen so I hope the announcement is coming very soon.

Is the season deposit thing newly posted? I hadn't paid attention but normally they start collecting deposits from the end of the prior season. texassports.com says season renewals will happen in early summer and the MO of the past is to renew prior to a schedule release. Unless they want to release a schedule as very tentative, I wouldn't be surprised if they hold off until July or even early August.

There is so much in flux right now with the different states and universities signaling different things. By this time of year, you'd typically have about anywhere from 50-90% of the schools' schedules released and you could almost piece together your schedule. Only a small number have released any details. Texas is scheduled to open the season @ UNI. They will play UNI, Utah, Missouri and Syracuse. UNI has released their nonconference opponents weeks ago but still haven't published a schedule. Stanford is supposed to come to Gregory this year but their university is saying they aren't traveling more than 300-400 miles. We are supposed to go to Minneapolis as part of the UF, Stanford, Minny, Texas four year deal. I'd expect Rice to come to Austin for a match. A&M is releasing their non-conference week by week on Twitter. I would expect we'll play them at College Station. Aggies are opening in Hawai'i. Good luck with that! The last thing I would want to do is spend 4-6 hours on a plane breathing recirculated air for that long. There is also the fact that the islands have locked down and have a mandatory 14 day quarantine period when flying in right now.

There's a twitter account that actively follows the schedule releases and they put together a google doc of schedules.

Thank you for the helpful information. Is Texas supposed to play Utah, Missouri, Syracuse @ UNI as part of a tournament?

That's the assumption based on UNI releasing who's scheduled to come to Cedar Falls. But Texas has traveled to several pre-conference tournaments in the past and not played one of the other traveling schools that would have been a RPI hit. I also don't think Jerritt is terribly fond of playing 3 matches in 2 days or 4 matches in 2/3 days. I would not be surprised to see us not play Syracuse.

it's interesting that A&M is literally the only Power 5 conference to have released a non-conference schedule at this point. Bohls column today in the AAS even references their opening weekend trip to Hawaii. Apparently, that trip is still a go and airfare has already been purchased because it's so cheap. :rolleyes1:

John Cook of Nebraska said based off of what he is hearing & meetings he has been attending, it is a strong possibility the season would only consist of conference games only & a possible scenario in which the ncaa tournament & championship would end before Thanksgiving break to avoid flu season & a possible second wave of the coronavirus.

Just curious... I see alot of volleyball players are back in Austin. So are they just taking summer classes and are not able to practice until July 1st?

The July 1st "practice" stuff you've been reading is actually allowing for supervised training by the strength & conditioning staff. Unless the NCAA changes rules to compensate for spring practice time lost, there are no organized practices until the girls report for pre-season camp in August.

Jerritt typically requests/strongly suggests the players enroll in both sessions of summer school and participate in "voluntary" training workouts. I'm assuming that is what's going on here. The girls want to win a championship so they've agreed to come back in June to start training. The June training would be unsupervised and voluntary. Any volleyball practice would be pickup games the girls do on their own.

Okay so the july 1st is more of the weight room / sprints type of things just to get back in shape and back in the groove of working out but they cannot be coached or do anything with Jerrit & staff until August & right now they are only allowed to do player organized type workouts/practice?

Yep.

The 2012 title match against Oregon will be replayed on Longhorn Network on Tuesday, 06/23, at 5:00 PM Central time. Don't recall it having been replayed by LHN after all these years.

And, on Wednesday, 06/24, LHN will replay all 2012 post-season matches starting at 9:00 AM Central: Colgate, A&M, Florida, USC, Michigan and Oregon.

Tomorrow will be the day the big 12 announced preseason favorites for the volleyball season. Just curious does anyone think they will hold off on that or just announce it? I mean I know the big 12 schedule has not been released yet but I don't think announcing preseason favorites will do any harm since it's really nothing to be worked out like the schedules. It's simply stating who is the favorite to win. I hope they do announce it tomorrow or very soon. I think everyone needs some kind of clarity.

Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Awards Announced

I certainly didn't think they would stick to the schedule with all that's going on. Logan, Brionne and Skylar are named All Big-12 Preseason. Hope there is actually a season!
I think there will be but we might just see conference play with some tournaments within the conference teams but not go against the conference record if that makes sense. If there is out of conference play we might only play teams close to us. So Minnesota and Northern iowa might be out of the picture this year.

Welcome to the Erwin Center:

Guess my seat pal who's not in my quarantine bubble will be wandering around, unless I can request a distanced seat for him in the renewal application

I believe this is why they have took so long to release the schedule. Not only because I'm sure this virus has affected some matchups but they would also have to work around and with the schedule of the mens and women's basketball teams so finding dates and times that don't cross between the three teams is also challenging.
