2018-19 Season Discussion

As someone else noted, the "Speculations for Next Year" thread has run its course, and time to start a thread to discuss THIS YEAR!

I'm in. So somebody who knows share how much time the coaches can spend now with the team and on what basis...……..fundamentals or strength/conditioning or ??? I assume that formal pre-season practice has NOT started yet? Any tidbit will help satisfy my itch for the season.

I’m curious to see what the starting line up will be. My guess is Sug, Lashann, Danni, Joyner, and Jatarie.
That’s where I landed earlier today after the thread kicked off. I’d guess the first off the bench by position would be Chaz at PG, Destiny at the off guard, Jada at SF, and Charli and Mide at 4 and 5 respectively. I waffled on Mide and Charli’s positions but think Mide’s strength advantage currently would give her a better shot at defending a true college post - also Charli seems to have better range so you could pull her away from the basket a bit more.

My projected start date for official practices (full team) to start is Sept. 28, 42 days from game one on 11/08.
Legislative Services Database - LSDBi
17.3.2 Preseason Practice -- On-Court Practice. An institution shall not commence on-court preseason basketball practice sessions before the date that is 42 days before the date of the institution's first regular-season contest. An institution shall not engage in more than 30 days of countable athletically related activities before its first regular-season contest. Any countable athletically related activities (e.g., conditioning, skill-related instruction) that occur within the 42-day period shall count against the 30 days of countable athletically related activities. (Revised: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05, 1/14/08 effective 8/1/08, 4/29/10, 1/14/12 effective 8/1/12, 5/2/13 effective 8/1/13, 1/15/14, 1/18/18 effective 8/1/18)

A little lower than I expected but I’m sure most of that has to do with the loss of Ariel and Brooke rather than doubts about talent on the roster.

I like that LaShann is getting AA mention during the preseason, even if it is only 3rd team. I think she should be higher but at least voters will be aware of her during the season.
More training! :smile1:

Shae in with the bigs? Hmmm...if Tiff has the bigs (6), Jamie the guards (6), that leaves George with 2 players at most (Jada and possibly Audrey).

Wow...my first ever ‘Dislike’...gotta admit - it stings a little.

Naw DFW, the dislike was for the #14 rank. Like you I do not believe there are 13 better teams in the nation.
There's gotta be a better way to do that.

I wouldn't doubt that Shae is cross training at both F spots, like Jada, unless that injury is still causing some problems with her mobility and quickness.

Has the like button gone away? I was going to like some things, but there is no button there.
Those icons at the bottom of the page give more options to express your view about a post but I miss the names showing up beneath the post. Now one has to click on "list" to see the names. Ah well, every improvement has some drawbacks. Overall, I like the improvement.

Hadn't realized Ariel was back in town! :hookem2:Gotta be a thrill for our frosh to talk to her. Wonder if Rogers got a chance to meet her?

It appears the team ran their annual Mile run (actually 1600 meters) this morning. Shae posted her time. She responded to me that Joanne Allen-Taylor came in first. In past years the team would post pictures of the winner in there Facebook account. I guess it could be a little sensitive for those that don't finish so well. Brooke was a pretty consistent winner during her days on the 40 acres. Last year Brooke was not well on the day of the run and I was told that Audrey-Ann actually came in first. Amazing! The ladies who finish strong in this run have a lot of Moxey and I'm sure the Coaches are looking at that. This now perks my interest in watching how Joanne will play this year.

Wasn't sure where to ask this question. But, anyone that follows Coach Aston on twitter...she has a daughter now??? :e-thinking:
