Congratulations to North Texas and Coach Mitchell! When will I learn? I was recording the game but I did not put extra time on the recording. The recording quit with North Texas going to the line with a 3 point lead with about 21 seconds left in the game.
This really is shocking. More surprising (to me, anyway) than when Louisville upset Baylor in the NCAA quarter-final. I think I'll visit the OU forum just for fun.
Oklahoma missed so many wide-open lay-ups. OU recognized they had size advantage in the post as all of OU's post players were taller than their defenders. OU kept going inside but the posts kept blowing lay-ups.
The most impressive player to me was Kelsey Criner of Dallas Lincoln HS carving up the Oklahoma defense with ease. Her speed was too much for the Oklahoma perimeter D to keep up. How is she not a BCS/Power 5 player amazes me because Oklahoma could have used her talents.
And then North Texas has Tyara Warren of West Virginia, Terriell Bradley of Kansas, and Nekia Jones of Texas eligible next season after sitting out due to transfer rules. Jalie has good talent to work with next season.
I also posted this on the other North Texas thread, but its so amazing, I'm putting it here, too.
If you want to dip into the realm of sublimely amazing stats, consider this: North Texas was 5-24 last year; they only suited up nine players for the OU game, and three of their starters fouled out. OU missed 17 layups and went 0-7 from the three point line in the second half. They had a huge size advantage, but their posts were 7-21. Tough night.
Baylor is up on USF 49-41, beginning of the 4th quarter. Just keeping up on game tracker, so not sure how it looks. USF must be playing good defense though.
OU was a different team last night. Lights out, couldn't miss a three, moved the ball around, stifled BYU's shooters, won big. Amazing what a difference mental attitude can make.
