Pick a card, eighteen cards ...

REVISED 3/25/12

• QB (1) Tyrone Swoopes

• RB (1) Kyle Hicks

• WR (2) Jake Oliver, Eldridge Massington, Ra'Shaad Samples

• TE (1) Durham Smythe

• OL (3) Jake Raulerson, Kent Perkins, Darius James

• DE (2) Daeshon Hall, Torrodney Prevot, Mike Mitchell

• DT (2) A'shawn Robinson, Quincy Russell, Justin Manning, Christopher Robinson, Vincent Taylor

• CB (1) Cole Luke, Maurice Smith, Antwuan Davis, Colin Janice

• ATH (2) Ricky Seals-Jones, Jacorey Warrick, Naashon Hughes

I think this would be a highly rated class even with only 18 total.

My 2 cents:
2 TEs - yes
A'Shawn - I read where he has publically said he prefers the defensive side of the ball.
Raulerson - There is no telling where that guy ends up. I hope for his sake he chooses a position and stays there. Remember Jason Burleson?
And where is our badass FB? Is he a LB in disguise?

That was the 2005 National Championship game, not 2006. It was played on Jan 4 2006, but we won the 2005 Championship.

This class is the best is looking like like a championship calibur class and we are only 6 kid in. I love the size the coaches are going after. We have needed big strong WRs in order to run block and shed the defensive holding that college refs allow these days. We have also needed size on the interior and the coaches are really bringing in the big boys now.

You know what's crazy?

I was just reading a really exciting article about the talent and skills of RSJ. I started imagining the possibilities and possible positions he might play. Then I realized he's a full 1 1/2 years MINIMUM from seeing the Memorial Stadium turf. If he, or any others on the list redshirt, that's 2 1/2 years.

Crazy to think about in this perspective.

Bobby Burton over at Hookem.com/247Sports posted yesterday that he believes that this might be the best start for a Mack Brown recruiting class EVER! That says a lot coming from Bobby... and of course about Mack and his new staff!!

cochamps,

Yeah me too, I'm not an insider and have no inside information. This was told to me from someone who does know. You know, even the blind chicken finds a piece of corn every now and then.

If that is the case then it seems we've gone from famine to feast in recruiting OL. Just a couple of years ago we were having issues consistently getting commits from top OL. Now it seems we're getting who we want and need.

6 of 10 in the top 70. That is friggin scary. Time to produce again on the field as we did from 04-10.

Wadster - Perkins is an OT.

Interesting to see that 7 of the 10 project on the offensive side, depending on where Robinson ends up. If he plays O, then 8 of the 10 could end up there.
I went back and did a stick-figure count of 2012. I came up with 17 Defense, 10 Offense, plus a K. I made some assumptions on where Sanders (offense) and Duke Thomas (defense) will play.

So that makes sense that this class may be more heavy toward offense.

Yes Speedway what are you talking about? Is our conditioning program going to weed a few out? Too much for some of the weak?

I want to see them get 1 more OL, 1 stud TE, a few top DBs, another big 300 lb DT, and a 1 more DE. That would get this class to about 17.

Crazy that 9 out of the 11 kids verballed are 6-3 or bigger. 8 of those 9 are listed as 6-4 and larger.

that is really insane Hornpharmd! I had not heard that….It would be cool if we had WR's so tall that it made covering them very difficult. I hope we can win an extra couple of games this year (say 10?) before starting to compete for titles again starting in 2013.

About time too. I have been tired of watching our WRs getting outmuscled by bigger strong DBs the last couple of seasons. We haven't had a that guy you can throw a fade route to since Buckner left and I still don't understand what happened with that guy. Then there was the big bust of Malcolm Williams. Time to get back to the Roy Williams, Limas Sweed, Jermichael Finley days
