This article says the 5'6 PG from Westbury Christian has committed to Texas

The Link

Westbury is loaded with talent this year with four highly sought after players in Amber Orrange, Fallon Ellis, Sylvana Okde and Brianna Turner.

Orrange (5’7”, G) has signed with Stanford and is the No. 15 over player in the 2011 recruiting class according to ESPN Hoops Gurls. Ellis (5’11”) had signed with Iowa State while Okde (5’6”, PG) has verbally committed to Texas and in the top-100 for 2012. But the biggest rising start on the team is Turner a 6’4” freshman that is already drawn a lot of attention from Division I schools.

That's a PG in every class, starting with Shanice this year.

I thought that would fill the roster up but, based on a post by Moooo in another thread, the two player class of 2012 will only bring up the roster to 13. So, still room for one or two more.

forgot til reminded that there is no one leaving when the class of 2013 comes in. That means that those two open slots are filled up by the two player class of 2013. Guess that, once confirmation of Okde and Brewer is done, we are set for the next two recruiting classes. Unless I messed up on the numbers again.

I read somewhere that academically Brewer is already a junior. I believe she took a lot of college credit courses while she was still in high school. Given that, I am curious as to how many years she plans to play here. I guess she could still use all of her eligibility and go to grad school.

I am also interested to see what year Brewer will be classified in. Glad to have her!!

If I got it right, Brewer is a junior academically this year. She started taking college credit courses in her freshman year in high school. By the time she is elgibile to play, assuming she sits out one year, she will be in her last semester as a senior and a RS soph for BB. She does want to go to law school so it is possible that she will be able to play for two more years while attending law school if she decides to attend and is accepted by the UT law school.

I agree that it would be difficult to go to law school and play a varsity sport at the Div 1 level, but I don't believe there are any work restrictions enforced against first year law students at Texas. In any event, playing college basketball is not considered working in the traditional sense.

Starting next year A&m will have 3 players over 6'5'' with one of those being 6'7". Baylor of course will still have Griner. I was just hoping we would add another post player that was atleast 6'4'' to keep pace with those two teams. 2013 is 3 seasons away. thats two long to have to wait for another big body.

Next season, the Horns will have 6-4 Reed, 6-4 Gayle and 6-3 Hartung. We are not exactly going small.

But Roseville is right in that for the 2012 season, it looks like Reed and Hartung will be the only ones over 6-1.

I don't keep up with women's basketball like I used to, but several have wondered how long Brewer would stay here. Are there girls coming out early now in women's basketball???

Not yet, but Brewer started college with something like 60 college hours she got credit for through a program her high school had. So, I think academically, she was a junior this year, a frosh for sports purposes. She has stated that she has a timeline for what she wants to accomplish academically. Depending on what law school she decides to go to and is accepted at, she may not be here more than two years. That's assuming that she still has as her goal going to law school.
