Peters informed the KU rivals guys that he's set to announce. Pretty sure thats a sure sign he's head to the Jayhakws. Definitely need to land Isaiah Austin in that class. Missing on both stud bigs from the state would be a big, big blow for the Horns.
We were in very good shape, but Kansas has been in on him as long, maybe even longer, than we have.
All the talk about Peters being Texas lean was more speculation than anything since he never came out and said Texas leads, just "Texas is high on my list"
yep its Kansas, but yeah the early signing period for his class is more than a year away, unless he reclassifies to 2011, maybe thats a reason for the ridiculously early commitment? he's a year older than everyone right now(in the 2012 class) so maybe reclassification is a possibility.
regardless, not sure its a HUGE loss. Obviously hurts to lose him, especially to Kansas but there are other bigs available and the thought it is guys are going to start catching up to him.
From everything I've read seems like we're in great shape for Sheppard(who plays similar position 3/4 hybrid) and is a heavy Texas lean with ties to the program. He might be another reason for Peters going from Texas lean to Kansas. Maybe the coaches are higher on Sheppard than Peters? I don't know.
Maybe this helps with Isaiah Austin? Not sure why it would b/c Austin is a center and Peters is a SF/PF but who knows.
Maybe he just likes KU? They are KIND OF a big deal in basketball...
Sheppard, as has been pointed out on this board by 3ball, is not nearly as good as the hype he receives. Saw him play when Findlay was on...ick. Guy really needs to work on his game--he should not be a 5* prospect right now or anywhere near it.
Agree that Peters' decision in no way affects Isaiah Austin. He's a MUST, with how bad our big man recruiting has been the last few years. Throw in other top ten prospects J-Mychal Reese and L.J. Rose, as well as superstar Shabazz Muhammed (who I expect to eventually be the number 1 prospect in the class), and I'll not be too unhappy...
This is not good. He is lightyears better than Sheppard. He can do everything Sheppard can do, but better, and just more overall. Peters is not a 3 though. He is a PF that can step out and face up. Perfect for the high low that KU runs.
He reminds me of Boddicker, but with better low post ability.
There are still other possibilities out there in this class, but I wouldn't say that UT leads for any of them. The good thing is that Texas is VERY deep in 2012 talent.
